Directed by Mark Waters and written by Heather Hach and Leslie Dixon, and based on Mary Rodgers’s 1972 novel of the same name, 2003’sFreaky Fridayfinds Jamie Lee Curtis as single mother Tess Coleman, with Lindsay Lohan starring as her teenage daughter Anna. Despite being mother and daughter, the pair could not be more different, and it is driving them both insane. After receiving cryptic fortunes at a Chinese restaurant, the two wake up the next day to discover that they have somehow switched bodies. Unable to switch back, they are forced to masquerade as one another until a solution can be found. In the process, they develop a new sense of respect and understanding for one another.

Freaky Fridaywas met with positive reviews from critics thanks to the chemistry between the two leads as they embark on a classic body-swap adventure. Thanks to the emergence of legacy sequels, some of which have continued the likes of Disney’sHocus PocusandMary Poppins, talk has turned to which Disney favorites might receive the same treatment.
