It wasn’t the power of Christ that compelled Jason Blum to reschedule the theatrical debut ofThe Exorcist: Believer. On Thursday, August 31, if a cinephile woke up and logged onto their AMC Theatres app to check for showtimes, they faced a rude awakening. A message immediately popped up informing patrons there was a wait time because of the presale ofTaylor Swift: The Eras Tourtickets. And Blum jokingly blames Swift for having to reschedule his horror film’s opening weekend. Blum wrote onX, formerly Twitter:
“Look what you made me do. The Exorcist: Believer moves to 10/6/23 #TaylorWins”

Blumhouse’sThe Exorcist: Believerwas originally scheduled to open in theaters on Friday, October 13. However, theTaylor Swift: The Eras Tourhas now not only laid claim to that date, but it appears that Swifties are going to make it nearly impossible for any other film to compete withThe Eras Touron its opening weekend. Thus, Blum made the decision to openThe Exorcistsequel a week earlier on Friday, October 6.
It may have been the right move for Blumhouse to make. Tickets forThe Eras Tourwent on sale this morning at 7:15 a.m. CDT. And sources toldDeadlinethat presales for Taylor Swift’s theater event has already sold over $10 million worth of advance tickets.

Taylor Swift Made ‘Believers’ of Blumhouse
Jason Blum declaredTaylor Swiftthe winner in his post, as the CEO of Blumhouse Productions made the decision not to tangle with the musician’s filmThe Eras Touron the weekend of Friday, October 13. Swift’s movie will play in AMC, Cinemark and Regal venues for four weekends in a row until November 5. And it will also be shown on Halloween night — the only standalone day of its four-weekend engagement.
According to the same report by Deadline, AMC Theatres won’t even be giving their Stubs A-List members “priority treatment” in this circumstance (editorial: something this writer can personally attest to as I couldn’t even check the status of myEqualizer 3reservations without getting the “you’ll be waiting forever” screen).
Blumhouse’s decision to switch weekends was arguably influenced by the fact that AMC — it is the largest theater chain in the world after all — decided to limit other movies’ showtimes whileTaylor Swift: The Eras Touris playing in theaters. Tickets for Swift’s theatrical engagement will cost Swifties anywhere from $13 to upwards of $20 each. AndThe Eras Tourwill be screened in IMAX and Dolby formats.
