AquamanstarJason Momoawill continue to demonstrate his affinity as an action hero, signing on the dotted line to star in an action-comedy for Universal. TitledShots, Shots, Shots, the plot of the movie is currently a mystery, but it has been likened to James Cameron’s superb spy outingTrue Liesand the recent Paramount hit comedyThe Lost City, with a dash of Liam Neeson’sTakenfranchise thrown in for good measure.
The news comes courtesy of a report byThe Hollywood Reporter, with Universal further describing the project as “a family-centric adventure.” CouldShots, Shots, Shotsbe Momoa’s seemingly obligatory family-action movie, and thus see him follow in the footsteps of Arnold Schwarzenegger withKindergarten Cop, Vin Diesel withThe Pacifier, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson withTooth Fairy?

Alongside Jason Momoa in the central role, the studio has also tapped Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows to write the script forShots, Shots, Shots. The writing pair does not yet have many credits to their name, but they have dabbled in comedy before with the 2018 Netflix comedyThe Package. As well asShots, Shots, Shots,Mider and Burrows are currently developing the comedyStoned Alone,a reimagining ofHome Aloneabout a 20-something stoner, which is eyeingDeadpoolstar Ryan Reynolds for the lead.
Jason Momoa will produceShots, Shots, Shotsas well as star, with theDuneactor producing the family-action flick with partner Jeff Fierson along with Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback. A director has yet to be announced.
Jason Momoa Will be on Action Hero Duty for the Foreseeable Future
Shots, Shots, Shotsis far from the only time that Jason Momoa will ply his trade as an action hero on the big screen. The actor will next reprise the role of underwater DC superhero Aquaman in the upcoming sequelAquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Directed by James Wan from a screenplay written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, and starring Jason Momoa alongside Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Kidman, plot details forAquaman and the Lost Kingdomremain a mystery at present but, to the surprise of no one, it is expected to follow the Justice League member as he discovers a lost kingdom.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdomis scheduled to be released on August 26, 2025.
Momoa is also joining theFast and Furiousfamily alongside Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, and the others in the upcomingFast X. Once again, the plot remains a closely guarded secret, but it has been revealed that Momoa will enter theFast and Furiousfray as the villain of the piece. “It’s fun, I get to play the bad guy, which I haven’t gotten to do for a while,” Momoa has said since. “Now, I get to be the bad boy. A very flamboyant bad boy. A little panache!”
Fast Xmeanhwhile is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 16, 2025, by Universal Pictures.
