The BeekeeperstarJason Stathamcontinues to fly the flag for wonderfully no-nonsense action movie fare, and his next movie, theJean-François RichetdirectedMutiny, has now been given a release date. Sadly, it’s going to be a little while before we catch The Stath’s next violent vendetta.
As per a report byDeadline,Mutinywill land in theaters next year on June 22, 2025, with Lionsgate putting Statham’s latest action thriller up against Universal’sM3GANspin-offSoulm8te, which releases the week before on January 2. Other than that, the path is clear forMutinyto make a killing at the box office on its opening weekend.
Mutinysees Statham in the role as both star and producer as he joins forces with the director behind 2023’s Gerard Butler-ledPlane, Jean-François Richet, with the action outing findingThe Mechanicstar on the run while uncovering a major global conspiracy. Jason Statham Will Ply His Trade Once Again in This Year’s ‘A Working Man’
Mutinywas written byPlane’sJ.P. Davis and Lindsay Michel, with VP, Co-Productions and Acquisitions for the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group’s Lauren Bixby having previously teased the action movie potential of teaming up Jason Statham and Jean-François Richet. The filmmaker is best-known for the likes ofMesrine: Killer Instinct, the Mel Gibson-led action thrillerBlood Father,and 2023’sPlane, which was well-received by both critics and audiences alike, achieving 79% from the former and 94% from the latter on Rotten Tomatoes.
“Jason Statham is one of the most kinetic action stars in the world and we look forward to teaming him up with Jean-François and the MadRiver team who we previously worked with on Plane," Michel said in a statement. “We can’t wait to see that creative energy once again as we bring Mutiny to life.”
