John Woo Will Next Direct the Dialogue-Free Action Movie Silent Night

Before helming his reimagining ofThe Killerwith the upcoming remake, John Woo will first direct the dialogue-free action flick titledSilent Nightand marking the filmmaker’s first American feature film sincePaycheckback in 2003. Led byThe Suicide Squadactor Joel Kinnaman,Silent Nightwill follow a regular, everyday father who enacts his long-awaited revenge against a ruthless gang on Christmas Eve. Offering the sort of simple set-up that no-nonsense action movies thrive on, the real hook behind Silent Night is that it will feature no dialogue, with Kinnaman seemingly needing no words to carry out his vengeance.

“It really has no dialogue,”Silent Nightproducer Erica Lee says of the project. “It was another spec script that I was given and read, and I was like, “This is either going to be a genius move or a disaster, there’s no in between.” It’s execution dependent for sure. I mean, John Woo kills it. Joel Kinnaman is the star and really delivers. I mean, there’s some ambient noise and background and chatter like radio and stuff like that. But, yeah, it’s awesome. I can’t wait for you to see it.”

Starring Kid Cudi, Harold Torres, and Catalina Sandino Moreno alongside Joel Kinnaman,Silent Nightdoes not yet have a release date. Nor, for that matter, doesThe Killerremake.
