Ever sinceDreddcame out in 2012, despite a terrible performance at the box office, fans have been clamoring for a sequel. The movie found a massive audience once it left theaters and is considered by many to be one of the better action movies of the modern era. It may not be coming to the big screen, but aJudge Dredd TV seriesis in the works and is looking to bring back Karl Urban as the titular, futuristic lawman. The series, which is officially titledJudge Dredd: Mega-City One, is still a good while from actually airing, but the first concept art from the show has leaked online and it is pretty epic.

The two pieces of concept art forJudge Dredd: Mega-City Onewere revealed byIGNand, outside of promising a massivedystopian sci-fimetropolis, it is also revealed that these images were done nearly a year ago. That means this series has been in development for a little longer than we may have realized previously. Even so, there is still no network attached, so it will probably be awhile before we actually see this live-actionJudge Dreddshow make it to air.

Judge Dredd: Mega-City Oneis said to take place in a massive futuristic city on the east coast of the U.S. that is absolutely riddled with crime. That is most definitely teased in this concept art. Especially the piece titledDemocracy March, which looks like it could be taking some inspiration fromBlade Runner. As opposed to 2012’sDredd, the show is said to focus on an ensemble team of Judges that will have to try and keep order in the hectic,crime-filled mega-city. Even though this will be an ensemble, producer Jason Kingsley revealed to IGN that they are indeed talking withKarl Urbanto reprise his role fromDredd.

“We have been in discussions with Karl about his possible involvement inJudge Dredd: Mega-City Onefor some time. These conversations continue but we’re keen, he’s keen, it’s just a case of us making sure this show is everything we want it to be. This needs to be done right, the fans deserve it. Our team is working hard on scripts for the first season, creating engaging multi-thread storylines, one of which will be Dredd’s but others which take us into the wider world of Mega-City One.”

If the producers can manage to get Karl Urban on board, that would be a huge boost forJudge Dredd: Mega-City One. Urban recently said that he’s game for it as long as his part is meaty enough, so hopefully they can get that worked out. Combine that with this new concept art and things are looking pretty good forJudge Dreddon the small screen.
