The news of Julian McMahon’s death saw an immediate reaction on social media, from both those who have worked with the actor and those who have spent many years watching him on TV and in cinemas. The actor’s passing was announced by his wife, who shared the below statement:
“With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer. Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible. We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy, to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.”

Of course, McMahon has appeared in a diverse range of projects over the last three decades, from drama to crime to superhero, and that means there are many people who have been saddened and shocked by the news of his passing. Among them was Nicolas Cage, who recently starred with McMahon inThe Surfer. Cage said (via Deadline):
“Such deeply saddening news. I spent six weeks working with Julian, and he was the most talented of actors. Our scenes together onThe Surferwere amongst my favorites I have ever participated in, and Julian is one of my favorite people. He was a kind and intelligent man. My love to his family.”

McMahon’sNip/Tuckcostars Dylan Walsh and Joelly Richardson were also among those to share their sadness after hearing of the actor’s death. Walsh said:

McMahon’s former Marvel costars fromThe Fantastic Fouralso had heartfelt tributes to share. Ioan Gruffudd, who played Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic alongside McMahon’s Doctor Doom in said:
“Even though we played each other’s nemeses, there was always so much lightness and laughter working together. Every encounter with him was a joy. It was an honor to be Dr. Richards to his Dr. Doom. My heart goes out to his wife and family. God speed Julian.”
Michael Chiklis, who played Ben Grimm in the films added: “I’m devastated to hear of the passing of my friend Julian. Life is so precious and fragile. My condolences to his family. RIP Jules.”

There were many fans who also wanted to share their feelings about McMahon, and there has been no shortage of tributes paid to him on social media.
Naturally, it is not long sinceCharmedfans lost Shannen Doherty, who also passed away following a cancer battle. McMahon’s death has been another sad day for followers of the series.
Charmedcostar Alyssa Milano said she is “heartbroken” in her tribute. She wrote:
“Julian McMahon was magic. That smile. That laugh. That talent. That presence. He walked into a room and lit it up — not just with charisma, but with kindness. With mischief. With soulful understanding. We spent years together onCharmed— years of scenes, stories, and so many in-between moments. He made me feel safe as an actor. Seen as a woman. He challenged me, teased me, supported me. We were so different, and yet somehow we always understood each other.”
Holly Marie Combs shared her own tribute, saying, “Your unyielding zest for life and crazy making sense of humor will be sorely missed. The joy and laughter you were the direct cause of will always be remembered,”
Rose McGowan also morned the loss of her former costar, adding her own post saying, “Oh Julian, you force of brilliance, wild talent and humor. For you, your family and loving fans all over the world, I pray comfort."
