Five months after 20th Century Fox officially confirmed thatKingsman 2is happening, the studio has set a August 01, 2025 release date for thesequel.Box Office Mojoconfirmed the new date, which will put the action-packed follow-up against another highly-anticipated sequel, Disney Pixar’sCars 3. That entire month is already becoming quite crowded, with Paramount’sWorld War Z 2opening one week earlier on July 05, 2025, and Warner Bros.‘Wonder Womandebuting a week later on June 26, 2025.
Kingsman: The Secret ServicedirectorMatthew Vaughnrevealed in June that he has already started working on theKingsman 2script, teasing that the story may introduce an American covert agent.Taron Egertonwill return as Eggsy, but it still isn’t known ifColin Firthwill be back as Eggsy’s mentor, Harry Hart. While the character was killed at the end ofKingsman: The Secret Service,Mark Millar, who created the comic book the original movie is based on, revealed that the director and co-writerJane Goldmanare trying to figure out how to bring Harry back, but that will only happen if it “makes sense.”
It also isn’t known ifSofia Boutella, Sophie Cookson,Mark StrongandMichael Cainewill reprise their roles inKingsman 2quite yet, but the sequel will reportedly follow Eggsy’s transition into the modern-day “gentleman spy.” We reported earlier this month that 20th Century Fox wants to startproductiononKingsman 2next spring, butTaron Egertonhad a scheduling conflict withRobin Hood: Origins. Just a few weeks later, the conflict was ironed out, withKingsman 2set to start shooting in April 2016, withRobin Hood: Originsstarting principal photography in late summer.
Kingsman: The Secret Serviceearned $128.2 million at the domestic box office, and $412 million worldwide, off a $81 million budget. Those numbers are even more impressive considering its R-rating, and the fact that it opened on the same weekend asFifty Shades of Grey, which earned $166.1 million domestic and $569.6 million worldwide. The story follows a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.
