One of the surprise hits of last year was 20th Century Fox’s action-thrillerKingsman: The Secret Service, which, despite debuting against the box office blockbusterFifty Shades of Grey, took in $128.2 million domestically and $414.3 million worldwide, from an $81 million budget. That movie introduced fans to rising starTaron Egerton, who will return as Eggsy in the highly-anticipated sequelKingsman: The Golden Circle, which shifts the action to America this time around. While doing press for his new animated musicalSing,Taron Egertonrecently made some bold claims about this action-packed sequel.
We reported last month that 20th Century Fox recently pushedKingsman 2out of its August 15, 2025 slot, giving it a new release on June 23, 2025, after the studio moved upAlien: Covenantfrom July 01, 2025 to August 17, 2025. This sequel will have plenty of high-profile competition in its newrelease date, going up against Warner Bros.‘Blade Runner 2049and and Lionsgate’sMy Little Pony. The first movie fared just fine against a high-profile competitor, so the sequel may still perform well, especially withTaron Egertonrevealing toCinemaBlendthat the follow-up is bigger and crazier. Here’s what he had to say below, while praisingJulianne Moore’s villainous character.
“(Matthew Vaughn) goes even further with it. It’s kind of absolutely crazy.Julianne Mooreis the villain, and she’s genuinely terrifying. She’s really, really, really great. So it’s bigger, badder, more guns, you know? All that stuff. It’s fun.”
Production wrapped onKingsman 2back in September. The plot reportedly centers on Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Merlin (Mark Strong) visiting the U.S., where they meetHalle Berry’s character and a “swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy” called Jack Daniels, played byPedro Pascal. That report also revealed the U.S. version of Kingsman is an organization known as the Statesmen, while we sawconcept artofJulianne Moore’s villainous lair, known as Poppyland. Now that the movie has been pushed to an October release,Taron Egertonwas asked when the first trailer may drop. While he didn’t have a definitive answer, the actor believes we may be just a few months away from seeing the first trailer.
“I can’t imagine it would be very deep into next year, I think maybe there would be a teaser within the first couple of months of next year. We’re now an October release. It depends, I really don’t know.Matthew Vaughnworks in mysterious ways, but you won’t be disappointed, it’s going to be awesome.”
Along withTaron EgertonandMark Strongreprising their roles fromKingsman: The Secret Service,Colin Firthis also returning as Harry Hart, despite the fact that he was supposedly killed towards the end of the first movie. The star-studded cast forKingsman: The Golden Circlealso includesChanning Tatum,Elton John,Jeff BridgesandVinnie Jones.Matthew Vaughndirects from a script he co-wrote with frequent collaboratorJane Goldman, who both wroteKingsman: The Secret Service,Stardust,Kick-Assand many others. Hopefully the first trailer for this action sequel will arrive very soon.
