NBC has announced that they will be reuniting two of the most popular members of the NYPD in TV history with a crossover event.Law & Order: Organized Crime, which brings back Christopher Meloni as Elliot Stabler, will premiere with a 2-hour crossover event alongside the long-runningSVU. The two-hour television event is set for Thursday, April 1st.Law & Order: SVU(9 PM) andLaw & Order: Organized Crime(10 PM) will finally bring back together Olivia Benson and Stabler, played by Mariska Hargitay and Meloni, respectively.
Christopher Meloni, reprising his role as Elliot Stabler, returns to the NYPD to battle organized crime after a devastating personal loss. InLaw & Order: Organized Crime, Stabler will aim to rebuild his life as part of a new elite task force that is taking apart the city’s most powerful criminal syndicates one by one. However, before Stabler can get to his new show, he’ll be stopping byLaw & Order: Special Victims Unitfirst for a reunion that fans have been waiting years for. In addition to Meloni, the cast includes Dylan McDermott and Tamara Taylor.
It is unclear howElliot Stablerwill factor into season 22 ofSVU, though fans don’t really care at the moment. Back in January, Christopher Meloni shared an image of himself and Mariska Hargitay from the set and fans went crazy. Even the official NBC Instagram account commented on the photo saying, “the MOST [fire] duo.” As of this writing, the post has nearly 150,000 likes. Fans all agree and are looking forward to seeing how Stabler and Benson get along after all of these years, along with what it means forLaw & Order: Organized Crime.
It is also unclear ofOlivia Bensonwill show up in the world ofLaw & Order: Organized Crime. BothMariska Hargitay and Christopher Melonihave evaded questions when asked, but anything is possible at the moment. The creative team may be going out of their way to separate itself from the world ofSVUby leaving Elliot Stabler alone in the new show, away from past relationships. Thankfully, fans aren’t going to have to wait too much longer to see Stabler and Benson back together again, even if it’s only for a moment to get the new show up and running.
As for Elliot Stabler’s mind set inLaw & Order: Organized Crime, it sounds like he may be back to his hothead ways.
