And it comes with a special cover featuringStar Wars: The Force Awakenscharacters both old and new. And for the first time,Han Soloand Princess Leia are joined byJedi Master Skywalker. This is a long-standing magazine, but it’s not clear if this art was okayed by LucasFilm. Or if Famous Monsters took it upon themselves to imagine whatMark Hamilllooks like in the movie. The image shown here actually looks quite a bit like the very ‘unofficial’ leaked photo of the actor that started to spread like a virus across the Internet a couple of months ago. Perhaps the magazine’s artist took inspiration from that?

Famous Monsters of Film Magazine Cover

Last week, we saw Luke Skywalker appear on what was at first reported as fan art. But it was later said that this one-sheet was turned into Disney and Lucasfilm as a possible official theatrical poster. No one has either confirmed or denied that. But as it stands, that is still considered a piece of fan art. The cover of Famous Monsters magazine is a little different. In that this is a commissioned piece and not made by a fan. Though, is it approved by the studios? We don’t have that answer yet.

Mark Hamill’sLuke Skywalkeris one of the few main characters who has not been revealed in any of the previously released footage. There have been several rumors regarding Luke Skywalker throughout the past two years, some claiming that he has gone into exile followingStar Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, and others claiming that his original lightsaber, which was found in the desert, sends new heroes Rey and Finn on their heroic journey. ProducerKathleen Kennedydid offer a tantalizing tidbit earlier this month, revealing thatStar Wars: The Force Awakens,Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the JediandStar Wars: Episode IXall revolve around Skywalker’s family.

Force Awakens

Take a look at the Famous Monsters magazine cover for this month. Is this our official first look at Luke Skywalker? Or has this just been rendered from some poor artist’s imagination? We’re pretty sure that it will be close to what we see in the movie. We know whatMark Hamilllooks like. So, unless he’s wearing an armored life-sustaining uniform like his father before him, we think this is pretty close to what we’ll be getting in December.
