Last night,Marvelheld the world premiere screening forSeason 2ofDaredevil, which debuts in its entirety on Netflix one week from today, on March 18. Naturally, the studio had a presence on the red carpet, with a number of interviews from the cast, but one of these interviews included some breaking news.Luke CagestarMike Colterrevealed in an interview that his new series will premiere on thestreaming serviceFriday, September 30.
Just last month, the official Twitter page forJessica Jonesposted an unusual photo that featured a file folder that said “Cage - November,” which many assumed was teasing a November debut forLuke Cage. However, just one day later, another report surfaced claiming that Netflix is actually eyeing a latesummer debut. Now we finally have confirmation of when the show will air, which falls in line with the release plan teased by Netflix’s Ted Sarandos earlier this year.
Luke Cageis the third of four new shows on Netflix, the first of which,Daredevil, debuted in April, followed byJessica Jonesin November. The second season ofDaredevilis debuting in March, andJessica Joneswas recently renewed for a second season, and it isn’t known when that will debut yet. Netflix’s Ted Sarandos said at the TCA winter tour that there will be a range of eight to 15 months between each show’s debut, withLuke Cagefalling on the earlier side of that spectrum.
Luke Cage’s September debut will be eight months afterDaredevil Season 2. It’s worth noting that the first season ofJessica Jonesdebuted seven months afterDaredevil, but there is only a five-month gap between the first season ofJessica Jonesand the second season ofDaredevil. If the streaming service continues to follow this release plan, then we should expect the final series,Iron Fist, sometime between May and December of 2017.

The supporting cast also includesRosario Dawson, reprising her role as Claire Temple, a.k.a. Night Nurse,Mahershala Alias Cottonmouth,Theo Rossias Sonny,Alfre Woodardas Black Mariah, Simone Missick as Misty Knight and Sonia Braga as Claire Temple’s mother. Another cryptic teaser for Daredevil Season 2 teased thatLuke Cagemay have a presence when that show returns in spring 2016. While the video didn’t show any footage, it did reveal that Matt Murdock’s favorite Hell’s Kitchen dive bar, Josie’s, will be turned into Luke’s, hinting thatLuke Cagehimself may take over the bar.
