After it was reported last week by several outlets thatMichael Bayis leading the charge on aSkibidi Toiletmovie, theTransformersdirectornow denies that’s the case. Despite the announcement last year that Bay was in the process of developing the popular internet sensation for film and TV, he says that none of his current projects have the word “skibidi” in them, contrary to what’s been floating around online.

In a video posted to his Instagram account this past weekend (seen below), Bay reminded us all to not believe everything we read on the internet. It comes just a few days after the director himself posted a teaser to his social media accounts about theSkibidi Toiletmovie, so it is possible that he could just be playing coy to keep it front and center in everyone’s mind. “You know how mom and dad have always told you, ‘Don’t believe everything you read on the internet,'” he began in his video, adding:

“I went on the internet last night and there’s stuff about me directing something – I know what I’m directing, but it’s not the thing they keep talking about.”

Michael Bay Called James Cameron To “Commiserate” About the State of Hollywood: “No One Can Greenlight Anything Anymore”

Michael Bay said he spoke with James Cameron on the current state of Hollywood as studios cut back on films.

Bay proceeded to show fans a table full of screenplays, saying: “These are a whole bunch of movies right now. One is in serious prep. One’s in soft prep. One I’m writing. Two I’m getting ready to produce. But there’s not one in that little pile that says ‘Skibidi.’ So let’s just stop the lore right now, okay? You heard it from me.”

‘Skibidi Toilet’ Is a Viral Sensation

Word broke last year that Bay and former Paramount Pictures president Adam Goodmanwere “in talks” to bringSkibidi Toiletto life, but there’s been little word on things since then up until last week. The bizarre animated series created by Alexey Gerasimov first hit YouTube in 2023, and quickly found a following in Generation Alpha thanks to its unpredictability and humor, accumulating billions of views. The short videos follow a war between toilets with human heads coming out of their bowls and humanoid characters with electronic devices for heads. Kind of sounds like the thing that would be right up Bay’s alley, right?

As mentioned, Bay’s denial that he’s directing the project could just be a smoke screen, or there might be some truth to it in the sense that perhaps he’s not the one sitting behind the camera. It could just come down to semantics and the way it was reported that led to Bay clarifying things a little bit. He’s clearly got a lot on his plate right now based on all those screenplays we saw, which may include the long-awaitedTransformers/G.I. Joecrossover film that everyone’s been dying to see.

Either way, it doesn’t appear as if aSkibidi Toiletmovie is going to hit theaters any time soon, so it’s best not to keep getting your hopes up. For now, we’ll just have to enjoy all of Gerasimov’s 78 episodes on YouTube. As for Bay? His most recent action thriller,Ambulance, is available to stream on Peacock.
