Netflixis partnering with action film maestroMichael Bayfor a TV series based on the comic bookBarbaric.It marks the filmmaker’s first time directing a television project in over three decades.
According toThe Hollywood Reporter,Barbaricis being developed by A+E Studios along with Netflix and Bay, and is based on the bestselling Vault Comics hardcore fantasy series of the same name.Peaky Blindersstar Sam Claflin andStar TreklegendPatrick Stewartare attached to star in the series, which does not yet have a production start date.

Barbarictells the story of Owen the Barbarian, who roams his land swearing to do good. His sentient, foul-mouthed drunken ax, aptly named Axe, acts as Owen’s conscience as they bring violent justice to the world and kill any witch they meet. The comic was created and written by Michael Moreci, with art by Nathan Gooden. The first issue ofBarbaricsold over 35,000 copies, making it Vault’s best-selling comic ever and outselling many Marvel and DC titles.
Claflin is in discussions to play Owen the Barbarian in the series.The British actor hasan impressive career, and is perhaps best known for his role as Finnick Odair inThe Hunger Gamesfilms.
