Moon Knightis a much darker show than previous MCU offerings. In place of wisecracking aliens and witches who shoot lasers from their hands, audiences got to see Oscar Isaac’s Marc Spector, a hard-nosed mercenary imbued with literally godlike powers, slice down enemies with his curved blade.

This tonal shift was well-received by Marvel fans. The show’s more serious nature seems to have even attracted the attention of thosebehind the Emmy Awards, which is an impressive feat for a program in the oft-overlooked genre of superhero stories.

Bushman

Though the series has yet to be officially renewed for a second season, several hints have been dropped by the show’s cast and crew, such asa TikTok releasedby Isaac and the show’s director Mohamed Diab, that seem to suggest new episodes will eventually be available.

In the first season ofMoon Knight, the main antagonist was Arthur Harrow, portrayed by Ethan Hawke. He was a cult leader working for the crocodile-headed goddess Ammit. Though Marc Spector ultimately chose to spare Harrow’s life, the character was eventually killed by one of Spector’s alter egos, Jake Lockley.

MoonShade

As such, there will need to be a new villain for the character to contend with in any future installments of the series. Here are some of the characters that could appear in a potentialMoon Knightseason two.

The Ruthless Raoul Bushman

The only reason Marc Spector can walk, talk, and fight is becausethe god Khonshuchose him as his avatar, though the deal that he struck with the moon god came with its fair share of complications. Spector seems to have freed himself from his contract with Khonshu by the end ofMoon Knight’sfirst season, but nevertheless, he will likely want to take revenge on the person responsible for his long-time servitude.

ShadowKnight

In the original comic book series, as well as the television show,Raoul Bushman is responsiblefor Marc Spector’s death. He was Marc’s boss when they went on a tomb-raiding mission. Spector tried to intervene when Bushman began killing innocent archeologists, but the ruthless Bushman callously shot his employee, leaving him to die, though Spector is ultimately saved through Khonshu’s intervention.

It may be that Moon Knight now has abilities that would make him too powerful to struggle in a fight with a simple mercenary. Still, Bushman is a demonstrably strong foe, and Moon Knight’s desire for revenge might make it necessary for the character to reappear.

Moon Shade, Moon Knight’s Freakishly Powerful Doppelganger

Moon Knight is no stranger to dealing with gods, so it would make sense that his primary antagonist in season two would have near god-like powers. Moon Shade is Moon Knight’s evil doppelganger. In the comic books, he attempts to become an entity of unparalleled interdimensional power by absorbing every single Moon Knight variant in the multiverse.

MCU storylines involving the multiverse have become increasingly common. Forcing Marc Spector to travel between dimensions in hot pursuit of Moon Shade would be an excellent way to bring the character into the broader universe. How will Moon Knight’s powers, which seem inextricably linked to the god Khonshu, be affected as the character explores the multiverse?

Furthermore, as Moon Shade accrues more and more power by absorbing Moon Knight variants, how omnipotent might the doppelganger become?

Shadow Knight, Also Known as Marc Spector’s Little Brother Randall

The best possible option for an antagonist in the futureMoon Knightseason is actually rather close to home. In fact, audiences saw him in the first season. In the comic book series, Marc’s brother Randall, a member of the Cult of Khonshu, becomesthe Shadow Knight, who has almost all of Moon Knight’s abilities, as well as the power to shoot blasts of energy from his eyes.

InMoon Knightseason one, it is revealed that Randall Spector drowned, which was emotionally devastating to his mother, who soon fell into the patterns of abuse that would force Marc to create his alter egos. However, it is possible that Randall’s life was spared through some sort of divine intervention and that he spent his life in service of one god or another, making it possible for Shadow Knight to appear as a future villain.

Even though no official announcement has been made, fans have been vocal about wanting a second season ofMoon Knightever since the first season was released. Marc Spector seems to prefer working alone (with the noteworthy exception of the two other men who inhabit his brain). Still, he may need to employ the assistance of other superheroes if some of his more powerful enemies appear in a theoretical season two.
