Natalie Portmanhas become one of the great icons of the world ofStar Wars, but it seems that the actress barely knew the successful science fiction franchise before becoming Padmé Amidala back in 1999’sStar Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.Star Warsis one of the most beloved film sagas of all time, and has managed to conquer different generations with its three movie trilogies, its spin-offs, series and much more. Making it difficult to imagine that there are people who do not know what it’s all about. Especially for someone who is now part of the franchise. However, it seems that was exactly the case with Portman.
Speaking to Radio Times Magazine (viaFemale First) while promoting her most recent film,May December, the Oscar winner confessed that while she knew whatStar Warswas, she had not seen the films before joining the cast:

“I was aware of the lingo, as American culture is so immersed in Star Wars. Even if you’ve never seen the movies, you know what Princess Leia buns are, what a lightsaber is, what a Jedi is, you know who Yoda and Obi-Wan are… you know all these words and names before you even see the films. But I only saw the films when I was approached to do them.”
Natalie Portmanmay not have been aStar Warsfan before being a part of the franchise, but she certainly enjoyed her time in the films. In fact, she recently declared thatshe would like to participatein a new project related to the universe created by George Lucas, although at the moment no one has reached out to her to make it happen.

Natalie Portman Wants to Return to the MCU
Thor: Love and Thunder
The sequel to Thor: Ragnarok and the fourth movie in the Thor saga. Directed by Taika Waitit. The cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, and Karen Gillan.
Star Warsis not the only major franchise in which Portman has participated. In 2011, she played Jane Foster for the first time inThor, the first installment of the adventures of Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder within the first phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, returning in the sequel released in 2013.
However, the actress did not participate in the third part,Thor: Ragnarok, and it was thought that she would no longer appear in the future of the franchise. Fortunately, Foster returned forThor: Love & Thunder, even becoming a superhero herself, The Mighty Thor. And it seems that she intends to return.
In another recent interview withVanity Fair, Portman confessed that she would love to return to the MCU, as she had fun playing Mighty Thor. Currently, afifth installment in the God of Thundersaga is supposedly in development, although it would be without Taika Waititi, who reinvented the character withRagnarok, something that was highly praised by many but criticized by others.
In fact, the director iscurrently working on aStar Warsproject, so they could meet again in the future in a galaxy far, far away if Portman is called upon to return to the franchise. And who knows, it could be Waititi himself who does it.
