Disney is in full-blown public awareness mode for the first standaloneStar Warsmovie ever,Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. That being the case, they are getting ready to unveil a bit of new footage on us.
Thanks to theABC Twitteraccount, we now know that some newRogue Onefootage is coming during theirDisney Holiday Celebration. The special is set to be a “new holiday tradition” according to the tweet. But much more importantly, at the very end of the 20-second video included in the tweet, it is revealed that there will be an exclusive look atRogue One: A Star Wars Storyshown during the special.
Unfortunately for those who don’t want to watch the entire special just to see some newStar Warsfootage, the specific time that the footage will be shown wasn’t declared. So fans may have to deal with watching performances fromKelly ClarksonandGarth Brooksin order to see whatRogue One: A Star Wars Storygoodness will be revealed. It is also unclear if this will be a new trailer, a making of short or some kind of behind the scenes video like the one shown atStar WarsCelebration over the summer. Either way, there will be some new footage, maybe even some more Darth Vader.
Prequelis kind of a bad word forStar Warsfans, butRogue One: A Star Wars Storyis a prequel movie that takes place in the time between the events ofStar Wars: Revenge of the SithandStar Wars: A New Hopeand tells the story of how the Rebels got their hands on the plans for the Empire’s planet-destroying weapon, theDeath Star. The band of Rebels tasked with stealing the plans is being led by Jyn Erso, who is being played byFelicity Jones. She is accompanied by a mixed bag of rag-tag Rebels who are trying to secure the plans so that theRebel Alliancecan destroy the Empire’s new, deadly weapon.
TheRogue One: A Star Wars Storycast includes the previously mentionedFelicity Jonesas well asMads Mikkelsen,Ben Mendelsohn,Alan Tudyk,Diego Luna,Donnie Yen,Wen JiangandForest Whitaker, who is playing Saw Gerrera fromStar Wars: The Clone Wars.
