TheMission: Impossiblesequels were officially announced a few weeks ago and they now have release dates. Both of the sequels will film back-to-back withMission: Impossible - Falloutdirector Christopher McQuarrie back at the helm for each one.Mission: Impossible 7will hit theaters in 2021, whileMission: Impossible 8will debut in 2022. This will leave Cruise enough time to get ready for theTop Gun 2promotional tour and start training for his upcoming stunts. Let’s just hope he doesn’t get hurt this time around.
Paramount has announced thatMission: Impossible 7will hit theaters on July 23rd, 2021, whileMission: Impossible 8will be released on August 5th, 2022. It’s believed that filming could start by the end of this year, but that has yet to be confirmed at this time. With the exception of Christopher McQuarrie coming back to direct, not much else is clear about the sequels in terms of storylines. With filming so far out, the crew has plenty of time to cast the sequels.

Christopher McQuarrie andTom Cruisehave worked together a lot in the past and the director is the first person to be at the helm of multipleMission: Impossibleinstallments.Mission: Impossible - Falloutcontinued in the tradition of being a box office smash, while also introducing Henry Cavill’s now-infamous mustache to the world. That mustache almost became bigger that Fallout and some put part of theJustice Leaguefailure squarely on the mustache, which the actor was not allowed to shave due to his contract with Paramount. There have been rumors that Cavill could come back to the franchise, but it isn’t clear if he’ll bring back the mustache.
Mission: Impossible 7andMission: Impossible 8will hit theaters afterTop Gun 2: Maverick, which was originally supposed to come out in 2019. Now, the highly anticipated sequel won’t be in theaters until 2020, after filming started last year. This should make Tom Cruise even more busy than originally expected. As for Cruise’s deal with theMission: Impossiblefranchise, it looks like he’s officially locked in for at least the next two sequels and could possibly sign on for more, depending on the success ofMission: Impossible 7andMission: Impossible 8.
WithMission: Impossible 7andMission: Impossible 8on the horizon, along withTop Gun 2, Tom Cruise more than likelywon’t really have time for much else. The actor famously does a lot of his own stunt work and will be seen flying an aircraft in theTop Gunsequel. Cruise injured himself on the set ofMission: Impossible - Fallout, which halted production and many are hoping that the actor will allow someone else to handle his dangerous stunts to keep production moving along. However, Cruise seems adamant to keep his stunt work moving forward.Varietywas the first to report theMission: Impossible 7andMission: Impossible 8release date news.
