Nick Frost trolled fans hard this afternoon stating that a sequel toHot Fuzzhad been confirmed. Frost posted a picture on social media of himself, Simon Pegg, and Edgar Wright with a hashtag that said that the sequel had been greenlit, leading to fans losing their minds on the internet. However, once Frost’s management was contacted, they claimed that it was not happening. Frost then went back to his original post to do some clever editing.
To clarify,Hot Fuzz 2is not happening.Nick Frosthas admitted that he was just having some fun with everybody in a follow up post. In regard to the original post, Frost edited it to say, “Some confusion, Hashtag should’ve read… Hot Fuzz Two Not Greenlit We’re Just Having Lunch Together.” Most fans found the post to be funny, but there are plenty who are pretty angry with Frost for playing with everybody’s emotions. He later posted another photo in which he just says, “When you been f*cking with people’s minds about HF2! Peace!”
Edgar Wright recently talked about thepossibility of a Hot Fuzz sequeland noted that he had some ideas. Apparently, the director was misquoted, because he claims that he never said those things, stating that he wouldn’t even know where to take the sequel since the first one brought everything together and said all there was to say. He then said, “So then the thing is like, when that’s your starting point for the next one, where do you go from there?” That’s understandable, but fans would love to see aHot Fuzz 2.
Hot Fuzzwas released in 2007 to critical acclaim. The buddy cop comedy was directed by Edgar Wright and written by Wright and Simon Pegg, and starring Pegg and Nick Frost. It was the second installment in theThree Flavours Cornetto trilogy, which started with 2004’sShaun of the Deadand was followed by 2013’sThe World’s End. Fans have been holding out for a sequel ever since, but both Pegg and Wright have been hesitant to confirm or deny that one is actually on the way. Though Wright recently admitted that it probably is not going to happen.
Nick Frost had fun for a few hours today, eating lunch with some of his best friends as well as trolling thousands of diehard fans who want aHot Fuzz 2. As further insult, Frost hashtagged his second photo with: “From Dusk Till ShaunIs A Go,” referencing a possible follow-up toShaun of the Dead, which has been talked about a lot over the years as well. However,Hot Fuzzwas the biggest movie out of the original trilogy, and that’s really what the fans want. While we might not ever get it, the fans will surely be double checking Frost’s posts from now on. You can check out theHot Fuzz 2trolling below, thanks toNick Frost’s Instagrampage.
