If there was one video game that people could experience in real life, it is a safe bet that many gamers would put theZelda franchiseat the very top of their list. Who wouldn’t want to run around in that sweet Link costume with a sword solving puzzles and saving the world? Well, that dream is coming very close to reality next year with theDefenders of the Triforceescape room game.
SCRAP, who have designed a ton of awesome escape room games and were even awarded “Best Escape Room” by USA Today, have teamed with Nintendo to make the world ofZeldaa reality for fans.Defenders of the Triforcewill be a totally unique escape room experience that will be touring the U.S. starting in January of next year in San Francisco. This won’t be your average “locked in a room” experience, as fans will get to solve puzzles inspired byThe Legend of Zeldain a massive area in teams of six.Doug Bowser,Nintendoof America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, had this to say about it in a statement.
“At Nintendo, we’re always looking for ways to offer new experiences for all of our fans, and expose our characters and franchises to new audiences. Partnering with SCRAP allows us to offer a new perspective on this legendary series.”
Defenders of the Triforcewill also include a promotional lounge that visitors can check out once they have completed the main puzzle. There will be tons of exclusiveZeldamerchandise and some pretty cool photo opportunities. SCRAP has a really good track record with designing these attractions, but SCRAP game producerDoc Preussseems confident they nailed it this time around.

Zeldafans, and fans of doing fun things in general, who decide to giveDefenders of the Triforcea try will have quite a bit to look forward to. Once the team of six is assembled, they will enter the game area where they will have a time limit to solve the big mystery. Players will get to interact with classicLegend of Zeldaitems and characters like the Goron and Zora tribes, just to name a couple. Just like thevideo games, any items that the team discovers can be used to gain access to other areas.
Nintendo even released a little trailer for the event on their YouTube channel, which you can watch for yourself below. Tickets for the first wave of cities are on sale now and can be purchased at ScrapZelda.com. As of right now the tour will kick off in San Francisco on January 31 and runs through February 5 there. It then moves to Los Angeles from February 10 through 12 and San Diego for the 24 and 25. The tour will also be making stops in Seattle, Phoenix, Houston, Chicago and New York, but dates for those cities have not yet been announced.
