It may have been hard to predict back in 2009, but Isabelle Fuhrman’s Esther has become something of a horror movie mainstay thanks to the filmOrphanand its 2022 prequel,Orphan: First Kill. No doubt making everyone suspicious of “kids,” the films have been a bright spot for the horror genre and that’s thanks in large part to the performance ofIsabelle Fuhrman, who brings the psychopathic Ester to life with relentless glee. Thanks to the success of the first two films, a third installment is on the way and Fuhrman has teased what’s to come in the “wilder and crazier” follow-up.

Per Bloody Disgusting, Fuhrman was in attendance at Spookala in Tampa, taking the opportunity to discussOrphan 3. The actress confirmed that the script has been written for the third installment and that it’s even “crazier” than what has come before.

‘Orphan’ and ‘Horizon’ Star Teases Upcoming Sequels

Isabelle Fuhrman spoke to MovieWeb amid the release of her new film Wish You Were Here and previewed what’s to come with her other buzzy films.

She was also asked if the third filmwould be a prequellike 2022’sFirst Killor if it would be a direct sequel to the 2009 movie that started it all, with Fuhrman revealing that it will be “both” while also calling it an “inbetweenquel.” No other plot details at this time, but it’s exciting that fans will be getting the best of both worlds with the third film.

What Do We Know About Orphan 3?

What is known about the thirdOrphanentry is that William Brent Bell,who helmedOrphan: First Kill, is back in the director’s chair while David Coggeshall, who also served as a screenwriter on that film, penned the script. Of course, Fuhrman will be back as Esther, further cementing her status as one of the horror genre’s most recent iconic villains. It’s obvious that she has a blast playing the role, but she is also protective of what they started with the first film. She admitted at Spookala that she was hesitant about making the second film initially because the first movie felt very self-contained, but the response from the fans toOrphan: First Killmade her and the creative time more than ready to get on board for a third installment.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson, the firstOrphanfollows a couple who, after the death of their unborn child, decide to adopt, but find themselves living with anine-year-old who has psychopathic tendenciesand a mysterious past. In addition to Fuhrman, the film also stars Vera Farmiga, Peter Sarsgaard, CCH Pounder and Jimmy Bennett. Released in 2009, the movie proved to be a success, grossing $78.8 million worldwide on a $20 million budget.

Orphan: First Killserved as a prequel to Orphan and detailed how, after an intricate escape from an Estonian psychiatric hospital, Esther makes her way to America by impersonating the missing child of a well-off family. The film also stars Rossif Sutherland, Hiro Kanagawa, Matthew Finlan and Julia Stiles. Despite only getting released in select theaters while also streaming on Paramount+,Orphan: First Killstill managed to pull in an impressive $45.6 million.
