Following the news of Ozzy Osbourne’s death, fans of the “Prince of Darkness” and music lovers alike flocked to the internet to honor the memory of the legendary Black Sabbath frontman. From touching celebrity tributes to fans posting memorable clips of the heavy metal singer with his family onThe Osbournes, it is no secret that the British rock star was truly loved by many. However, there is one particular clip that has gone viral on social media — and it involves Osbourne discussing who he would want to play him in a biopic. And you’ll never guess who the rock star named as his number one pick (Hint: It’s not Johnny Depp.)

In a resurfaced interview from Osbourne’s appearance onThe Nerdistpodcast back in 2010, he was asked by host Chris Hardwick: “Who would you pick to play you in a movie about your life?” In response, Osbourne iconically named-dropped a Hollywood actor that needs no introduction: “Denzel Washington.” A screenshot of the interview clip was posted to the official Screenthrill Instagram page, and fans quickly rushed to the comments section to share their reaction to Osbourne’s pick. One fan commented, “I just know Denzel could do it.” Meanwhile, another fan wrote, “Denzel would nail the role.”

Wait, Is There an Ozzy Osbourne Biopic in the Works?

In an exclusive interview withThe Sun, Osbourne’s son, Jack, says there is a biopic film on the way. He told the publication:

“We have the film on the way. We have a lot of good momentum on the Ozzy biopic. We have a director attached now, and the script is done, and Sony Studios is going to be producing it. It is about to go through a script rewrite. It’s going to be raw. We are not pulling any punches, we are really laying it all out. The director is absolutely phenomenal. I can’t say who he is, but we are very lucky to have him and he is a die-hard fan. If the evil overlords of Hollywood give us the green light, we could be filming in the spring, so maybe it will be out by the summer of 2027.”

Jack revealed this news toThe Sunweeks before his father’s death. On July 22,Osbourne died at the age of 76. The cause of his death has not been revealed. His family released a statement on X that read, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

As for who will portray Osbourne in the biopic? At the moment, we still don’t know who will play the lead role in the upcoming film. Judging from what Jack toldThe Sun, it appears that the biopic is still in the early stages of production. So now, we only have one question: Is it too late to get Denzel on the phone?
