Everyone loves a goodJason Stathammovie, and just because it is Christmas, that is apparently no reason for anyone to stop watching the British hard man do his thing in the 2013 action crime thriller,Parker. Despite being over a decade old, and boasting some poor reviews, the Taylor Hackford-directed movie is a hit again on free streaming, this time jumping into the Tubi Top 10.
In the movie, Statham takes on the titular role of a professional thief with a strict code of honor to follow. However, a little betrayal from his crew and all of that goes straight out of the window, setting Parker on a blistering journey of revenge that comes with the usual action set-pieces, hand-to-hand fist-fights, and just a little blood spillage to keep everyone happy. At least that is what seems to be happening with Tubi viewers rediscovering the film now that the festivities of Christmas are almost done.

Statham gives his usual performance in the movie, but both audiences and critics decided it wasn’t quite enough on this occasion to overcome the generic plot, and the“padded-out endeavor that fares quite well in its opening and closing stretches but strains to sustain one’s interest in its convoluted midsection.”Thanks for thatDavid Nusair of Reel Film Reviews. The film obviously has its fans, with the resulting 48% Popcornmeter score practically seeing audiences split down the middle. What is notable, is that this is a movie that manages to be either just OK, or a little bad, but is not as polarizing in its reviews as some movies.
‘Parker is Fighting Its Way Up the Tubi Chart
Despite its mixed reviews,Parkerwas not a complete disaster on its original release in 2013. The film managed a $46 million worldwide haul from its $31 million budget, but compared to many of Statham’s other outings in similar movies, it was a little disappointing. Now, though, the film is on Tubi’s free streaming platform, and that means that anyone can stumble across it when they have nothing better to do than watch a beefed-up bald Brit cracking a few skulls for the sake of it.
Jason Statham’s Best Performance Was Written by Sylvester Stallone
Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham joined forces in the often-overlooked action drama ‘Homefront,’ also with James Francho and Winona Ryder.
Jason Statham has become his own kind of catnip in the last several years, with movies new and old finding huge success on streaming platforms. Fromthis year’s new streaming release ofThe Beekeeper– which seemed to spark another round of love for the actor – to his stint in theFast and Furiousfranchise, fans with access to any streaming service have been hunting down both the good and bad of Statham’s career. As we head into 2025 withParkerreaching a new audience on Tubi, it seems that this is not about to change in the coming year.
