Pete Davidson has recently been the talk of the town following his two successful stints withThe King of Staten IslandandThe Suicide Squad. His personal life has also been a subject of wide media coverage and his SNL sketches have since gained mass popularity. And looks like this popularity is taking him to the right places.

According to New York Post’sPage Six, the actor’s representatives have been approached by the Academy Awards producers, and the talks are continuing between them.Page Six’salleged source revealed,

“His people are talking to producers.”

The source also revealed that Pete Davidson’s consideration for being the Oscars’ host this year may be the Academy’s move to target the younger demographic for viewership. The outlet reports via its source,

He gets a demographic that is hard to get; He is in a good space, his career is doing well and he is on the rise. He is a sex symbol, unlikely, but he is big with a certain generation.

This year’sOscarsceremony would beheld on March 27, once again delayedfrom its original slot of the first-second week in February. The regulationsallowing consideration of digital releaseswill remain in force given the continuing impact of COVID-19 on the theatrical operations. Produced by Will Packer (Ride Along, Straight Outta Compton), the ceremony will have a hostfor the first time in three years. The last Oscars' ceremony to have a host was in the year 2018, which was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. The idea to reinstate a primary host for the ceremony apparently came from Packer. Craig Erwich, President, Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment, earlier said,

[Packer] really has his pulse on popular culture and entertainment. I know he has a lot in store, and we’ll have more details to share soon.

ABC will be the official telecast partner of this year’s Academy Awards ceremony. Nominations for Oscars 2022 will be announced on February 8 and will be sought out among submissions from films released June 17, 2025, and July 31, 2025.

Pete Davidson has been the first confirmed candidate to have been approached for hosting the ceremony. Earlier, actorTom Holland had expressed interest in hostingthe ceremony someday.

While a lot of details concerning the Academy Awards ceremony 2022 are out, it’s still not clear how the ceremony would take place after the Academy organized alimited attendance show last yearciting COVID restrictions on gatherings.
