9 Valid Reasons Why Sci-Fi Fans Don’t Like Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon
The man, the myth, the legend, the thorn in the side of sci-fi. Zack Snyder isn’t making any new fans with Rebel Moon, and here’s why.
Alongside the trailer, the official synopsis forRebel Moon — The Director’s Cuthas now been released.

“Delve further into the mythology and madness of Zack Snyder’s epic sci-fi saga in the viciously sexier, bloodier world of REBEL MOON - CHAPTER ONE: CHALICE OF BLOOD and REBEL MOON – CHAPTER TWO: CURSE OF FORGIVENESS. In Snyder’s director’s cut, a peaceful settlement on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, and Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival.
Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Motherworld, Kora assembles a small band of warriors - outsiders, insurgents, peasants, and orphans of war who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a new army of heroes is formed.”
Rebel Moon Was Designed to Have Director’s Cuts, Will Land on Netflix Next Month
Zack Snyder has, of course, found huge success with director’s cuts, with his version of the DC outingJustice Leaguea huge hit. Coming as a result of a major fan-led campaign on social media,The Snyder Cutwas metwith a much more positive response from critics compared to its predecessor and became the fourth-most-streamed movie on HBO Max at the time.
Of course, this time around, theRebel Moondirector’s cutsare not a resultof personal tragedy and backstage drama, with Snyder having revealed previously that the movies were, in fact, designed to be re-released.
“I don’t know how I got into this director’s cut thing, but what I will say about it is that, for me, the director’s cuts have always been something I had to fight for in the past and nobody wanted it. It was this bastard child that I was always trying to put together because they felt like there was a deeper version. And with Netflix, we shot scenes just for the director’s cut . So in that way, it’s really a revelation because it gives that second kick at the can for big fans.”
Rebel Moon – The Director’s Cutwill once again star Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Charlie Hunnam, and Anthony Hopkins, with both parts due to debut on Netflix August 16, 2025.
You can check out some reactions from fans, which range from “YESSS!!!! OMFGGGG!!! THIS IS REBEL MOON!!!” to “Why not release this one first then?”
