The short-form streaming service revived the long-dormant comedy earlier this year with a new season, its seventh overall. The announcement comes on the heels of 13 new episodes of the show that are currently releasing onQuibias Part 2 of the revival season. It aired from 2003 to 2009, spanning six seasons. More than 100 episodes have aired to date. A movie,Reno 911!: Miamiwas also released in 2007. Previously, Lennon suggested a new movie was going to happen. They, instead, went the other way with it, offering up shorter episodes instead of a feature.

Peter Principato of Artists First will executive produce the series along with Danny DeVito, Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher of Jersey Television. Wendi McLendon-Covey will also produce the series. Garant, Lennon, Kenney-Silver, Niecy Nash, McLendon-Covey, Cedric Yarbrough, Carlos Alazraqui, Ian Roberts, Joe LoTruglio and Mary Birdsong make up the ensemble cast. Quibi entered thestreaming warsin April after raising well over $1 billion in funding, which allowed them to rope in an impressive list of A-list talent to create programming. The mobile-only service specializes in episodes that are 10 minutes or less, intended to be viewed on the go. Unfortunately, the plan hasn’t panned out thus far. A report from June stated the service lost 90 percent of its active users after the free trial was up.
