Invinciblecould have a very long future on Prime Video. Fans are gearing up for the show’s third season, which releases on the streamer in February 2025. But, according to the show’s creator,Robert Kirkman, we’re not even halfway through the overall series.Invincibleis based on Kirkman’s comic book series of the same name, which follows Mark Grayson, the son of a human, Debbie Grayson, and a Viltrumite (a knockoff Kryptonian) Omni-Man. When Mark develops his own powers, he becomes the superhero “Invincible,” but being a hero isn’t as simple as it seems when his own father is Earth’s greatest threat.
Speaking toCollider, Kirkman addressed how long he envisionsInvinciblerunning for.Invincibleis one of the best superhero shows around, and fans will be delighted to learn the series has a long shelf-life, at least, according to Kirkman and showrunner Simon Racciopa.“The way Simon and I have mapped out, where we would kinda follow the comic and where the breaks would be, roughly eight seasons,“Kirkman said. However, like everything in the TV industry, that could always change for better or worse. He continued:

“Could be seven, could be ten.”
Kirkman was then asked if he could pin down a more specific figure. However, the creator and showrunner joked that it would be impossible to give an exact figure this early on, saying,“Or nine. I can be greedy.“HisInvinciblecomic ran for 144 issues between 2003 and 2018. Only around 40 issues have been adapted so far in the show’s two seasons (give or take, to account for deviations from the source material). Following that logic,Invincibleshould take around 7 seasons to faithfully adapt the comics. But, that leaves no room for Kirkman to alter things in the adaptation.

‘Invincible’ Season 3 Is On the Way
Before fans get their hands on the prospective Season 8 ofInvincible, we’re still awaiting Season 3. The show will return on Prime Video in February 2025 with three brand-new episodes. Thankfully, Robert Kirkman has already confirmed the new season won’t feature a similarly annoying mid-season break like Season 2 did. Moreover, the show willseemingly adapt some of the darker story arcsof the acclaimed comic series.
The show’s core cast are returning for Season 3, including Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Gillian Jacobs, Walton Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Seth Rogan, Grey Griffin, and more. Thefirst full trailer for Season 2was released earlier this month. The footage teased what fans can expect from the new season, including the return of the Viltrumite Empire, Omni-Man’s moral struggle, Mark Grayson’s new super-powered brother, and Mark looking to go it alone as his distrust of Cecil grows stronger. The new trailer also showed off Invincible’s brand-new super-suit, which is now black and blue.

‘Invincible’ Season 3 Teased by Voice Actor Behind Fan-Favorite Character
‘Invincible’ is already returning to Prime Video for its third season in early 2025.
The trailer followed a shorter teaser and release date announcement that wasrevealed in October. That teaser was less a first-look at the new season, and more of an inside joke from Robert Kirkman and the team. The teaser joked about fans being impatient, and the stupid decision to take a mid-season break during Season 2.

Invincible
Based on the comic book character by Robert Kirkman, Invincible follows Mark Grayson, a seventeen-year-old who leads a seemingly average life save for the fact that he lives behind the shadow of his superhero father, Omni-Man. Mark goes on to develop superhuman abilities, but he must also learn that his father’s legacy isn’t as glitzy and glamorous as he’s been led to believe.
