After almost a year of waiting, Deadpool’s MCU future might have just been confirmed byRyan Reynolds. During theAvengers: Doomsdaycasting announcement video, fans waited for hours to see which of their favorite heroes would be appearing in the nextAvengersmovie.Deadpool & Wolverine’s Gambit (Channing Tatum) even got his own chair, but Wade Wilson himself was nowhere to be seen. Despite Deadpool’s absence from the video, many fans assumed that the character would appear in some form inAvengers: Doomsday, especially sinceDeadpool & Wolverinemade him an official part of the MCU. Well, that dream might finally be coming true, as Ryan Reynolds is teasing fans with Deadpool’s next big screen appearance on social media.
Ryan Reynolds recently took toInstagramto tease fans with his potentialAvengers: Doomsdaycasting. Did the actor record a quip-filled video, or perhaps share an earnest message about playing the character again? Nope, in the most cryptic, and arguably least Deadpool-like way possible, Ryan Reynolds got the entire MCU fan base excited with a single captionless photo. In his latest Instagram post, the actor shared a picture of the Avengers logo, although there was something particularly Deadpoolian about it. Over the official logo for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Merc With a Mouth had spray-painted over it in red paint.

This is, of course, far from any official confirmation thatDeadpool will appear inAvengers: Doomsday. But, given the timing of the post, with the film currently in production and many more unannounced actors rumored to be starring in the project, it’s hard to imagine Reynolds alluding to anything else. The only alternative is for Deadpool to appear inMarvel Rivals. But getting Ryan Reynolds to post such a photo whileDoomsday’s production is ongoing seems an unlikely way to announce the next character in Marvel’s hit video game.
Will Deadpool Appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’?
As previously mentioned, Ryan Reynolds hasn’t officially been cast inAvengers: Doomsday. But his casting would make sense. The film is alreadyfilled with legacyX-Mencharacters,including Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Ian McKellen as Magneto.Doomsdaywill also star the aforementioned Gambit, who finally made his big screen debut (the version inX-Men Origins: Wolverinedoesn’t count) inDeadpool & Wolverine. As excited as fans are for Channing Tatum’s Gambit to return for another MCU movie, it would be strange for the character to jump fromDeadpool & WolverinetoAvengers: Doomsdaywithout the former titular hero.
But, Deadpool’s appearance would also pose some problems forDoomsday. First and foremost,Doomsdaywill likely receive a PG-13 rating, whereas all of theDeadpoolmovies have pushed hard for R ratings. As such, the version of Deadpool that could appear inDoomsdaywould have to be somewhat subdued. Additionally,Doomsdaywill push the MCU into its next phase and is expected to be a dark and serious story. Would it then make sense for such a bonkers andunserious character like Deadpool to star in the film?
