Many would agree thatSailor Moonis one of the most, if not the most, iconic magical girl anime seriesof all time. Throughout the series, the audience is introduced to a variety of powerful protagonists and antagonists, eachpossessing their own unique abilities. From time control to psychometry, the characters in theSailor Moonuniverse arestrong and admirablein their own way.
The anime puts an emphasis on how the characters learn together and help each other to grow more powerful each day. It holds to the belief that they’re most powerful when together; however, this does not mean that the characters can’t hold their ground on their own. In fact, some of them are capable of wielding an incredible amount of power. Especially with the re-make of the anime,Sailor Moon Eternal, fans were mesmerized with theaesthetic visuals of modern animation. Each character’s power was shown in a new light, which made it worth watching! Here’s a list of some of the most powerful characters inSailor Moon:

6Tuxedo Mask
The present-day reincarnation of Prince Endymion, Mamoru Chiba, also known as Tuxedo Mask, has been the subject of quite a lot of debate in theSailor Moonfanbase. Mostly, the debates center around whether he’s Sailor Earth or not. Despite the fact that Naoko Takeuchi has clarified on multiple occasions that only girls can be Sailor Guardians, many things about Mamoru seem to hint that he might be Sailor Earth. Firstly, there’s a clear absence of a Sailor Guardian for Earth. There’s also the fact that he has Earth’s Sailor Crystal. In addition, much like the other Sailor Guardians who double as royalty for their planets, Mamoru is the Prince of Earth.
Not to mention that he has a strong connection with the planet. When he’s sick, the land suffers, however, when he’s well, the land also prospers. There’s also no denying the connection he has with Sailor Moon. Tuxedo Mask also boasts a variety of abilities such as psychometry, telepathy, and healing. There’s definitely some ambiguity regarding his power, however; one can’t deny that despite the mysterious circumstances, Mamoru is one of the more powerful characters in the series, especially when he’s performing miracles with Sailor Moon.

5Queen Serenity
Many would argue that Sailor Moon and Queen Serenity are technically the same person, just in different timelines. However, throughout most of the series, they’re portrayed as separate people. This is further emphasized by the fact that the two communicate with each other too, at times. Serenity possesses all of Sailor Moon’s power and some additional powers. Being the supreme ruler of the Moon Kingdom, she was able to use the Millennium Crystal a lot more effectively than Sailor Moon. In addition, she had the power to seal away evil beings like Metalia and Nehelenia. But the fans really get to see the extent of her power, when she sends her daughter and loved ones into the future to be reincarnated. Of course, Queen Serenity loses her own life in the process, but she is able to successfully accomplish her goal, making the event almost unparalleled.

4Sailor Saturn
Also known as the “Messiah of Silence”, Sailor Saturn is thegrim reaper of theSailor Moonuniverse. She’s the bringer of destruction and chaos, mostly in the form of an unstoppable, world-ending apocalypse. She’s the one who’s responsible for the end of the Silver Millennium. Her presence is so much of a threat that Sailor Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto try to kill her Hotaru Tomoe, her civilian form, to prevent the rebirth of Sailor Saturn. Interestingly, it seems that Sailor Saturn answers to a higher being that is different from the authority that the other Sailor Guardians answer to. She is solely called upon when the universe needs her assistance in world-ending. The cryptic nature of her existence, combined with the scope of her power, makes her a truly terrifying character to come across.
3Sailor Galaxia
Within theSailor Moonuniverse, Sailor Galaxia is referred to as themost powerful Sailor Guardian, except for Sailor Moon. Using her ruthless nature and talent for conquest, she is able to amass an empire known as the Shadow Galactica. By the time Sailor Moon comes to face Sailor Galaxia head-on, the latter has already killed all the other Sailor Guardians including Tuxedo Mask, which says something about the power she possesses. Interestingly, Sailor Galaxia wasn’t always evil, and her evilness sprung from altruism. A long time ago, to protect the universe, she sealed the ancient forces of Chaos within her soul. Imagine the power she possesses to be able to entrap an elemental force such as Chaos within her soul.

Perhaps what makes Chaos so powerful and frightening is that literally, the metaphysical concept of chaos personified. Known to exist since the dawn of time, Chaos is responsible for all the antagonists that Sailor Moon has to face. When Sailor Moon eventually comes to face Chaos, it has already become one with the Galaxy Cauldron, from which life springs from. In order to destroy Chaos, Sailor Moon must destroy the Cauldron and herself. While she is successful in stopping Chaos, it is only temporary as Sailor Cosmos reveals that Chaos will be born again, meaning that it is undefeatable. This fact makes Chaos one of the most powerful characters in the series.
1Sailor Moon
Known by many names, Princess Serenity, Usagi Tsukino, and Sailor Moon, the teenage guardian is known as the most powerful character in the Sailor Moon universe. The characters in the anime possess a variety of powers, including controlling time, looking into the future, and healing abilities. But nothing compares to the powers that Sailor Moon holds. In a universe that is powered by love, there is no one else to refer to as the actual embodiment of love other than the titular character herself. She holds the ultimate form of power, the power of love. She’s the only person who is capable of wielding the Silver Crystal, the ultimate source of limitless power. To add to her strength, her determination and courage to help others also make her a formidable force to face off against.
