Two years after Season 3 ended, Netflix’sSex Educationbrings most of its main cast back for a final season and invites fans to “finish together”. Season 4 is expected to reshape the show’s structure while simultaneously paying tribute to everything the show has built so far. That’s because Moordale Secondary School is closed for good, and the main characters will find themselves forced to relocate someplace else in order to carry on with their clandestine sex therapy.
A few other drastic changes took place in the past season; the show’s OTP couple Eric and Adam has broken up, and Otis' soul mate Maeve has moved to the United States. Additionally, key characters such as Emily Sands, Ola, Lily, and Olivia are not returning for Season 4, which means new stars are added to fill the gaps inSex Education’s final season. Asa Butterfield as Otis
Otis, an awkward teenager who started off as a sexually repressed boy and became the head of Moordale’s clandestine sex clinic, is played byAsa Butterfield. The actor was a consolidated movie star beforeSex Education, making his film debut at the age of nine with a small role in the movieSon of Rambow,and subsequently rising to prominence as Bruno inthe tear-jerking dramaThe Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
Butterfield went on to play Hugo Cabret in Martin Scorsese’sHugo, Ender Wiggin inEnder’s Game, Jake inMiss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and more recently, Isaac in Netflix’sChoose or Die. WrappingSex Educationonly 26 years old, Butterfield still has a promising career ahead of him.

Gillian Anderson as Jean Milburn
Jean Milburn, a renowned sex therapist and the mother of Otis, is played by veteran actressGillian Anderson. She’s best known for portraying Dana Scully in theclassic sci-fi showThe X-Files, one of those roles that will always be remembered in TV history. The semi-procedural series aired from 1993 until 2001, and in addition to two movies, it returned for a revival in 2016.
On TV, Anderson is also known for playing Bedelia Du Maurier inHannibal, Stella Gibson inThe Fall, Margaret Thatcher inThe Crown, and Eleanor Roosevelt inThe First Lady.On the big screen, she starred in popular movies such asWar & Peace, The Last King of Scotland, The Spy Who Dumped Me,and more recently,The Pale Blue Eyes.

Ncuti Gatwa as Eric Effiong
Eric Effiong, Otis' best friend and an extrovert with an exuberant dressing style, is played byNcuti Gatwa. The actor’s career skyrocketed after his role inSex Education, and he went on to star as one of the Kens inBarbie,2023’s highest-grossing movie, taking the iconic role of the Doctor inDoctor Who, also in 2023, and appearing in a significant role in the romance movieThe Last Letter from Your Lover.
Before his breakout role as Eric, Gatwa had a minor role in the TV showStonemouthand in the movieHorrible Histories: The Movie - Rotten Romans.

Connor Swindells as Adam Groff
Adam Groff, a school bully who comes out as gay and becomes Eric’s boyfriend, is played byConnor Swindells. Before joining the cast ofSex Education, Swindells appeared in a single episode of the TV showsHarlotandJamestownand starred in the moviesThe VanishingandVS.
After his breakthrough performance as Adam, the actor set off to a promising career with significant roles in movies such as the period dramaEmma, the thrillerBarbarians, and the hit filmBarbie.Swindells is also one of the main characters in the historical TV seriesRogue Heroes, portraying the real-life British Lieutenant-Colonel David Stirling.

Alistair Petrie as Michael Groff
Michael Groff, Adam’s father and the former headmaster of Moordale Secondary School, is played byAlistair Petrie. Apart from Mr. Groff, Petrie is best known for playing General Draven in the standaloneStar WarsmovieRogue One. Emma Mackey as Maeve Wiley
Maeve Wiley, a teenage underdog who strikes up an unusual friendship with Otis, is played byEmma Mackey. After many fans joked about the actress' resemblance with Margot Robbie,both ended up portraying Barbiesin Greta Gerwig’s movie, a huge step in Mackey’s career.

Kedar Williams-Stirling as Jackson Marchetti
Jackson Marchetti, the school’s head boy and a popular jock, is played byKedar Williams-Stirling.
