It was revealed at the end ofAvengers: Age of Ultronthat Scarlet Witch is one of the new Avengers, who will return inCaptain America: Civil War, which just wrapped production.Business Insidercaught up with the actress at the Toronto International Film Festival, where she was promotingI Saw the Light. When asked if she would ever like to make a stand alone Scarlet Witch movie, the actress revealed she didn’t think that movie would be “necessary” in the MCU.
“I’m not sure, honestly. I love my character, I just don’t know how that would fit in the whole Marvel universe or if it would even be necessary. The pressure of a tentpole movie on my shoulders doesn’t feel comfortable”
Shortly after wrapping onAvengers: Age of Ultron,Elizabeth Olsen' started production on a much different project, theHank WilliamsbiopicI Saw the Light, starring another MCU actor,Tom Hiddleston. The actress plays Audrey Mae Williams, the first wife ofHank Williams, which is obviously a much different role thanScarlet Witch.Elizabeth Olsenrevealed that she enjoys having the chance to star inMarvelmovies and other projects as well.
“The good thing aboutMarvelis they have so many other things going on that they have to plan their year so specifically. I already know my block of time for them for the next year, and I have a lot of time until then, so I’m in a position right now where I’m trying to find another film likeI Saw the Light.”
In a separate interview withCollider, she shed some more light onCaptain America: Civil War. The cast is among the largest ever for aMarvelmovie, with almost ever Avenger, old and new, making an appearance, along with a slew of supporting characters and new additions to the franchise. The actress revealed that she was only on the set for five weeks, and that the movie is dark but fun, and she wants to see how the ending turned out.
“I was only there for five weeks of it, but we were all super stoked about it… Even though the Ultron robots are so intensely human because of its mind, we’re actually dealing with humans this time through and through. There’s nothing scarier than something that’s like you being dangerous, so I think it’s darker and it’s fun. It’s really fun-it was so hard to shoot, but I think it’s gonna be a really interesting film. I’m excited to see how they’re gonna end it. I wanna see what the ending shots look like because I wanna know what the ellipses is at the end of the film (laughs).”
SinceAnthony RussoandJoe Russoare directing Captain America: Civil War,Avengers: Infinity War Part IandAvengers: Infinity War - Part II, many are wondering if all of theCivil Warcharacters will be back for the two-partInfinity Waradventure. Captain America: Civil War is widely believed to set up bothInfinity Warmovies, but it isn’t known how that will be achieved. When asked if she has plans on returning forInfinity War, the actress revealed thatMarvelhasn’t told her anything yet.
“Those are things I would like to know too (laughs). Those are things I have a group of people with me right now that would like to know too.”
