In any ensemble movie, superhero or otherwise, it’s always tricky to find a somewhat equal amount of screen time for each character. In the firstAvengersmovie, fans complained that Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) didn’t have much to do, which was later rectified in the 2015 sequelAvengers: Age of Ultron. Warner Bros. and DC faced a similar issue with last weekend’sSuicide Squad, which setbox officerecords but was trashed by critics. Of all the Task Force X members,Adam Beach’s Slipknot seemed to get slighted in several different areas, but today we have some background on this character, which involvesGal Gadot’sWonder Woman. There will be SPOILERS forSuicide Squad, so if you haven’t seen the movie yet, read on at your own risk.
Towards the beginning of the movie, there are a number of scenes that shed some light on the members ofTask Force Xbefore they are rounded up by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) and A.R.G.U.S. We learn that Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) was attempting to rob a bank before he was stopped byThe Flash(Ezra Miller), whileBen Affleck’sBatmanappears in a flashback scene with Deadshot (Will Smith). We also get plenty of background onMargot Robbie’s Harley Quinn andCara Delevingne’s Enchantress, but we only meet Slipknot just before Task Force X goes on their first mission, and he is killed off shortly thereafter. Empire’sNick De Semlyenrevealed the following excerpt from his set visit coverage onTwitter, revealing whatAdam Beachsaid to the press about how A.R.G.U.S. brought Slipknot in.

“David asked me, ‘So they kidnapped and caught you - what were you doing?’ I said, ‘Man, I was stranglingWonder Woman.’ What else was I doing? He started laughing.”
It isn’t known if this scene was ever in earlier drafts of the script, or if it was even filmed. It seems unlikely, though, sinceGal Gadotwas never rumored to be a part of theSuicide Squadproduction. However, over the weekend, a rumored list of scenes cut fromSuicide Squadincluded one whereSlipknotis referred to as a “serial rapist,” which was likely done to show him as an “unsympathetic character” to the audience before his sudden death during Task Force X’s first mission.
Last week, just days beforeSuicide Squad’s release,Jared Letorevealed in an interview that there were several scenes withThe Jokerthat were cut from the movie, which he hopes sees the light of day at some point. It’s certainly possible that they could be included in the deleted scenes whenSuicide Squadarrives on Blu-ray and DVD later this year. Even if thisWonder Womanscene isn’t included, it’s possible that there’s more with Slipknot before his rather quick death. Take a look atNick De Semlyen’s tweet below, and stay tuned for more onSuicide Squad.
