Tom Hollandmade his debut asPeter Parker/Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe earlier this year inCaptain America: Civil War. Even though he was only technically in two scenes (one being the massive airport battle scene) he made a very big impact on fans, so there is a lot of anticipation heading into his first solo movie in the MCU.Spider-Man: Homecomingis set to come out next year and Marvel is going to be giving us a prelude comic to help give some background on the character.

MCU Exchangeuncovered a listing on Amazon for the comic, which is titledSpider-Man: HomecomingPrelude. This is a strategy that Marvel recently implemented withDoctor Strange, releasing a two-issue preludecomic bookas well as a digital issue that exploredMads Mikkelsen’s villain Kaecilius. Here is what the Amazon listing had to say about the comic, which is set for release on June 20.

“You adored his introduction in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, you may’t wait for his Hollywood Homecoming - now really get to know the Spider-Man of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in this prelude to his big-screen solo adventure! By day, young Peter Parker attends high school and lives with his Aunt May. By night, he fights crime with wall-crawling powers and web-swinging tech - and he’s destined to one day have an amazing, spectacular, sensational reputation as his neighborhood’s friendly hero! JoinMarvel’s Spider-Manas he makes his first tentative web-swings towards a blockbuster future!”

At the moment there is no writer or artist listed for the comic, but Marvel will likely enlist some top-tier talent to tackle the book, sinceSpider-Manis such a crucial character and he is finally able to join his fellowAvengerson screen. The listing also states that the book will collect two separate issues, so it seems like theSpider-Man: HomecomingPrelude will be very similar to what the publisher did withDoctor Strange.Spider-Manis a much more well-known character thanDoctor Strange, but hopefully this book will help fill in some of his backstory in terms of how it fits in with the rest of theMCU.
