In recent years, theStar Warsfranchise has established itself in the world of television more than ever. While animated shows likeStar Wars: The Clone WarsandRebelshave found audiences in the past, the expansion ofStar Warswith live-action Disney+ series has proven to be a great move for the series. Shows likeThe Mandalorian,AndorandObi-Wan Kenobihave all experienced varying degrees of success. Meanwhile, the cinematic side of the series has been uncharacteristically dormant. It’s been nearly four years since the lastStar Warsmovie,Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, hit theaters. Since then, there have been several films put into development only to be canceled later on. This was the fate of Patty Jenkins’Rogue Squadronfilm and the untitled movie beingdeveloped by Marvel head Kevin Feige.
Throughout the various small screen adventures in the galaxy far, far away, there have been countless new characters introduced into theStar Warscanon. Some fan-favorite characters have even managed to transition from the medium of animation into live-action. While characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cassian Andor have jumped from the big screen into their own small-screen adventures, that has only proven to be a one-way road at this point. There have been very fewStar Warscharacters that have been introduced through television that have then made the jump to the big screen. Whether they were introduced inThe Clone WarsorThe Mandalorian, many of the bestStar Warscharacters have only existed on television. With that in mind, here are 11Star Warscharacters that we would love to see pop up in a movie down the line.

11Ahsoka Tano
Ahsoka is an obvious choice. She is one of the most famous characters to come from the animatedStar Warsshows created by Dave Filoni. While she may have started as Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice inThe Clone Wars, Ahsoka has grown so much further beyond that now. She played a crucial role as a Jedi survivor inRebels, and she premiered in live-action inThe Mandalorianbefore showing up again in a surprise appearance inThe Book of Boba Fett. While the voice of Ashley Eckstein, who played the character in her various animated appearances, can be heard in the chorus of Jedi near the end ofThe Rise of Skywalker, Ahsoka has yet to actually appear in a feature film (the animatedClone Warsmovie not included). Ahsoka will be receiving her own live-action Disney+ series later this year, which promises to bring several other characters fromStar Warsanimation into live-action. If that series is a hit, perhaps an appearance in a live-actionStar Warsmovie could happen sooner than later.

10Bo-Katan
General audiences have recently become familiar with the character of Bo-Katan Kryze through her portrayal by Katee Sackhoff in the third season ofThe Mandalorian. However, casual fans may not know that Bo-Katan’s story extends much further than what has been shown in the mega-hit Disney+ series. Bo-Katan wasfirst introduced inThe Clone Wars, where her complex and tense familial relationships and feelings toward the Mandalorian society were on full display. She was involved with several of the largest storylines inThe Clone Wars, before she also popped up inRebelsto play a large role there as well. Given her relationship with the Mandalorian Sabine Wren inRebels, and Wren’s confirmed live-action appearance in the upcomingAhsokaseries, there’s a decent chance that Bo-Katan also plays some role in that series as well. Bo-Katan is one of the most dynamic characters in theStar Warscanon. She has a complicated history of allegiances, and because of that, it’s hard to know whether to trust her or fear her. Given the strength of the character, and Sackhoff’s consistently great performance in the role, it would be great to see her make the jump to the big screen at some point.
Through his numerous appearances throughoutStar Warstelevision, chiefly inThe Clone Wars, the bounty hunter Cad Bane has been thoroughly established as one of the most intimidating and fearsome figures in the galaxy. While he has already appeared in live-action in the final episodes ofThe Book of Boba Fett, anyClone Warsfan knows that there’s a lot more that can be done with Bane than what was presented in that show. Whether it be through a bounty hunter-centric film, or just in a run-in with a lead character in any other film, including Bane in a live-action film would be a home run in terms of fan interest. It’s a shame that the character hasn’t made the jump already, as he would be a great antagonist for almost anyStar Warshero out there, whether they be a Jedi or not.

8Hera Syndulla
Hera Syndulla is one of the lead characters fromStar Wars Rebels, where she developed a reputation as one of the smartest and most cunning pilots in the Rebellion against the Empire. Syndulla was the heart ofRebels, and as such, she has developed a passionate fan base. It’s likely, though not confirmed, that she will also appear in live-action for the first time in theAhsokaseries, where she could be played bynone other than Mary Elizabeth Winstead. There was a hidden reference to Captain Syndulla in live-action as far back asRogue Onein 2016, where her name can be heard announced over an intercom at the Rebel base. While theRogue Squadronfilm is likely not happening anymore, aStar Warsfilm in that kind ofTop Gunfighter-pilot style would be incomplete without some sort of appearance by Syndulla.
7Moff Gideon
The villainous Moff Gideon, played byGiancarlo Esposito, made waves when he debuted in the first season ofThe Mandalorian. While the character is loosely billed as the central antagonist for that series, he only appears on occasion and is largely unaccounted for otherwise. The last we know of Gideon is that he was defeated by Din Djarin in the season two finale ofThe Mandalorian, and has since been taken into custody by the New Republic. Very little is known about Gideon prior to the events ofThe Mandalorian, and he could easily appear as an Imperial officer in anotherStar Warsstory set closer to or prior to the events of the original trilogy. While Gideon’s ultimate fate will likely be decided and depicted inThe Mandalorian, that doesn’t rule him out from making any appearances elsewhere. When you’ve got an actor of Esposito’s caliber, you get the most out of them that you’re able to. He’s already an immense presence on the small screen, just imagine what effect he could have in a theatrical outing.
6Ezra Bridger
AlthoughStar Wars Rebelswas definitely an ensemble story, if there was any character that could be considered the lead of that show, it would be Ezra Bridger. InRebels, he was a young character on his journey to becoming a Jedi with the training of Kanun Jarrus. Throughout the series, he is shown struggling to accept the Jedi ways at a time when nearly all the Jedi have been exterminated by the Empire. However, he gradually grew into the hero he was meant to be. Nothing is known about his adult life as a Jedi following the conclusion ofRebels, though many questions will likely be answered in theAhsokaseries, wherehe’s also confirmed to appear in live-actionfor the first time. It would be great to see an adult Bridger show up in aStar Warsfilm down the line, whether he was to be training any other future Jedi or just serving as a guardian for the universe.
5Asajj Ventress
While, like Ahsoka, Asajj Ventress did appear in the theatricalClone Warsanimated film, we’re not counting that movie here since it was essentially just a lengthy debut episode of the animated series, and it wasn’t even intended for cinemas throughout much of its production. Ventress played a key antagonistic role throughout much of theClone Warsseries, where she was the apprentice to the Sith Count Dooku. While her story largely ends with that series, and it solidly concluded in a book that followed it, we would still love to see Ventress pop up in aStar Warsfilm at some point. The character has yet to debut in live-action, which is a crime considering she’s one of the coolest villains the franchise has ever produced. While it would be a bittrickier to incorporate Ventress into a film, as her story is pretty closely tied to the time period of the Clone Wars, which has already been thoroughly explored through film and television, the payoff would certainly be worth it.
4Fennec Shand
Fennec Shand is another character introduced inThe Mandalorianthat has quickly become a favorite amongStar Warsfans. Played by the legendary Ming-Na Wen, the character is a feared bounty hunter and assassin who has appeared in both seasons ofThe Mandalorianand was essentially the co-lead ofThe Book of Boba Fett. It’s already been proven that the character can work in stories outside theMandaloriancorner of theStar Warsuniverse, as she also popped up in the animated seriesThe Bad Batchto great effect. Like Bane, Shand can serve as a great villain for any number of characters, with the difference being that she’s not as plainly evil as Bane is. Shand is now occupying a similar role in theStar Warsuniverse that Boba Fett used to, and we would love to see Wen show up as the character on the big screen sometime soon.
3Captain Rex
While the clones weren’t given very much development, if any at all, in any of their live-action appearances, the animated side ofStar Warshas established several clone characters as some of the most compelling in the galaxy. One of those characters is Captain Rex, who played a central role in theClone Warsseries and also appeared inRebelson a number of occasions. It’s honestly surprising that Rex hasn’t shown up in live-action yet. Some fans believe that will change with theAhsokaseries, but that is all just rumor and speculation at this point. As one of the few clones who escaped the onslaught of Order 66, Rex has become one of the most unique characters in theStar Warscanon. He’s a walking reminder of the tragic history of the Clone Wars. He’s proven to be a great hero on countless occasions. We would love to see Temuera Morrison get the chance to play this character in live-action, especially in a great theatrical release.

2Din Djarin
Djarin is the titular character inThe Mandalorian, played by Pedro Pascal, and he has become one of the most belovedStar Warscharacters to be introduced in this modern era of the franchise. ThroughoutThe Mandalorianand his appearance inThe Book of Boba Fett, Djarin has become the kind of classicStar Warscharacter that people just can’t get enough of. People love this character, and any chance to see him on screen is welcome. While it’s unlikely that we’ll ever get aMandalorianmovie with Djarin as the lead, it’s easy to imagine him popping up in someone else’s story. He’s already done so once withThe Book of Boba Fett, and including him and Grogu in any live-actionStar Warsmovie would instantly get people talking about it. There’s very little word on how many seasonsThe Mandalorianwill run for, but whenever the show has concluded, we would love to see Djarin show his face (or helmet) again on the big screen.
