Adrien Brody Took a Leap of Faith on Stephen King Series Chapelwaite
Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody talked about the ‘privilege’ of working on a King inspired project.
Chapelwaite Follows Adrien Brody’s Captain Charles Boone
Chapelwaitedrops audiences in the 1850s and follow Brody as Captain Charles Boone, who is forced to confront his dark family secrets. According to the synopsis:
“The series is set in the 1850s. It follows Captain Charles Boone (Brody), who relocates his family of three children to his ancestral home in the small, seemingly sleepy town of Preacher’s Corners, Maine after his wife dies at sea. However, Charles will soon have to confront the secrets of his family’s sordid history, and fight to end the darkness that has plagued the Boones for generations.”

Emily Hampshire plays Rebecca Morgan, “an ambitious young woman who left Preacher’s Corners to attend Mount Holyoke College, and has returned home with an advance to write a story for the new and prestigious Atlantic Magazine. Her writer’s block lifts when Boone arrives in town with his children, and despite her mother’s protests, Rebecca applies to be a governess of the infamous Chapelwaite manor and the Boon family to write about them. In doing so, Rebecca will not only craft the next great gothic novel, she’ll unravel a mystery that has plagued her own family for years.”
Back in 2021, while chatting withComicBook.com, Brody opened up about the “privilege” of getting to work ona King inspired project. The actor said:

“It was a big allure to this, that this was an adaptation of Jerusalem’s Lot and I had yet to get a chance to jump into the world of Stephen King. He’s really a master and, as so many filmmakers have tried to interpret his work, it’s a privilege. I love the tone of his writing and I think the [producers] captured quite a bit of that and visually, the storytelling honors a lot of it.”
Brody later described the series as “exciting and dark and foreboding and scary.”
“It was a wonderful project and I think they honored that work. They honored Stephen King’s work, very much so, and we have something that is exciting and dark and foreboding and scary and mysterious and all those things that we wanted to capture and I think they shot it well.”
At this time, MGM+ has yet to officially confirm the show’s cancelation, though it was never officially renewed for season two. Watch this space for more information.
