The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortarais based on the book byPulitzer Prize-winnerDavid Kertzer. Tony Kushner is adapting the screenplay for the big screen. In the movie,Mark Rylancewill star as Pope Pius IX.Bridge of Spiesproducers Marc Platt and Kristie Macosko Krieger will reunite withSteven Spielbergyet again on this project.

The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortarawill shoot in the early part of 2017, with a late 2017 release date. It may be positioned as a Christmas Day release.Ready Player Onewas originally slated to open in December 2017, but it was moved to avoid colliding with LucasFilm and Disney’s blockbuster sequelStar Wars: Episode VIII. That movie is now set to open in March 2018. It is presumed thatReady Player Onewill be shot immediately afterThe Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortarain 2017. Though, it might be shooting later in 2016. The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortarawas originally published in 1997. It follows a young Jewish boy living in Bologna, Italy in 1858. Having been secretly baptized, he is removed from his family and raised as a Christian. The boy’s family hopes to free their son, but become part of a large political battle that pits them against the Pope, democracy and Italian unification. What do you think?
