This article will go over a massive plot twist from the final episode of Season 3. Read at your own peril.

HBO has released the first teaser trailer forSuccessionSeason 4, whose title has taken on an additional meaning after the end of the last season. At the very end ofSeason 3, family patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) cuts his children Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook), and Roman (Kiernan Culkin) out of the company Waystar RoyCo in favor of selling it to Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård).

“Everything I try to do, people turn against me,” Logan is heard saying at the start of the trailer, “I’m a hundred feet tall. These people are pygmies,”

The end of Season 3 saw the siblings on an actual united front for once. Even Roman, who, for the first time since the show’s start, we see actually stand up to Logan. Season 4 looks like it’ll continue to have Kendall, Roman, and Shiv working together to take down Logan as the “rebel alliance,” as oldest son Connor (Alan Ruck) dubs them.

“New gen Roys,” Kendall says, “We have a song to sing.”

Oh yeah, Connor can be seen interacting with his siblings during the trailer as well. Though it’s still too early to tell, perhaps that means that Connor’s going to be involved in the main plot of the season instead of just doing his own side thing. Or maybe not, as up until this point, he’s been pretty pro-Logan and, unlike the others, hasn’t really been involved in running the company.

Battle Lines Being Drawn

Of course, only time will tell how long this alliance lasts, especially concerning a group of people who all have mile-long egos. Midway through the season, they could all easily go their separate ways again, like Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawerence (William Zabka) after they started working together inCobra Kaiseason 4.

Cousin Greg(Nicholas Braun) and Gerri (J. Smith-Cameron) can be seen during the trailer as well. They’re still in Logan’s circle, listening to him talk about how great he is compared to everyone else. However, a little oddly, we don’t see them interacting with the members of the Roy family there closest with. Roman in Gerri’s case and Tom (Matthew Macfadyen), Shiv’s husband, in Greg’s.

The teaser ends with Tom asking, “Do you want to talk about what happened?” In response, Shiv gives him a look that you’d probably find next to the dictionary definition of mariticide. Unsurprisingly, really, since the season 3 finale very heavily implied that Tom was the one that alerted Logan to his children’s attempts to prevent the deal from going through.

The Emmy award-winning show is set to return in the Spring of 2023. A date more specific than that has not yet been revealed. Right now, you can watch the first three seasons of it onHBO Max.
