‘F.A.S.T.’ Nearly Featured a Major Movie Star
In 2018,F.A.S.T. was picked up by Warner Bros. as a major starring vehicle forChris Pratt, who was set to portray Brandon Sklenar's unnamed former U.S. special forces officer. The Accountantfranchise director, Gavin O’Connor, was attached to direct Taylor Sheridan’s action-oriented script. Due to budget concerns and the pandemic, development was delayedindefinitely. With neither Pratt nor O’Connor involved,F.A.S.T.remained on the backburner for Sheridan and co., especially afterYellowstonetook television by storm and continued to dominate with new spin-offs.
The film is now on track to be filmed later this year to hit an April 2027 release date. It’s not clear how large the scope ofF.A.S.T. will be, but judging by the time there will be for post-production, it seems to be a fairly ambitious effort. Sheridan’s previous venture into a similar drug-related premise wasSicairo, which had a $30 million budget. Considering how long it tookF.A.S.T. to come to fruition, it might be safe to say that the scale will be bigger than the Oscar-nominated 2015 film directed by Denis Villeneuve.
