As noted byThe Hollywood Reporter,Ted Lassostar and co-creator Brendan Hunt recently reflected on the unanswered questions in season 3 and the possibility of a spinoff. On a RedditAsk Me Anything thread, Hunt shared his thoughts with fans of the series.

While discussing if there is a possibility of more stories set in theTed Lassouniverse, the actor said, “We don’t know. We need a break and will take one presently. Nothing has been ruled out, everything is possible; but that includes the possibility that we’re done. We won’t know until we’ve sat with it for a while, decompressed, etc.”

Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso

Hunt also revealed that the creators of the series did consider a potential relationship between Jason Sudeikis’s Ted and Hannah Waddingham’s Rebecca (which is hinted at in the third season) “out of professional responsibility … but never with enthusiasm.”

TheCoach Beard actor noted that while Ted and Rebecca are soulmates, that doesn’t mean they have to be together romantically.

Hunt said, “We have been taught by years and years of television that when there is a male lead and a female lead they end up together. That can be hard conditioning to see past.”

Brendon Hunt Said It Didn’t Make Sense To Have Ted Return So Quickly to the United Kingdom

In a different response, theWe’re the Millersactor discussed Beard and Jane’s (played by Phoebe Walsh) wedding and noted that in terms of the storyline, Ted had just taken a plane back to the United States, so it didn’t quite work to have him return to the United Kingdom for their wedding so soon after leaving. Hunt remarked that Beard and Ted have a special relationship that wouldn’t require them to always be physically present in each other’s lives.

Hunt stated, “Personally, I think Beard called Ted and told him he could sit this one out, and Ted said thanks because the ceremony conflicted with a big game for Henry’s soccer team. The history of their relationship IMO [in my opinion] is long periods of seeing each other and long periods not. We have entered one of the latter, but the former will come around again at some point. They love each other. They will see each other again.”

The actor also addressed questions about Beard’s relationship with Jane and the coach’s choice to marry her despite her “abusive” behavior.

Hunt wrote, “As Ted says, their baggage goes together real nice (paraphrasing); they feel like they’re the right person for each other. The main thing we know about Beard and Jane: He just loves her. She makes life more interesting. Where once he was addicted to meth, he is now, IMO, addicted to her pheromones. Is he making the right long-term decision? Don’t know. Is he doing something that he wants to do right now? Certainly. And there is joy to be had in that.”

Hunt said that the creators intentionally left the relationship between Ted and Michelle (played by Andrea Anders) open to interpretation. Though Ted and Michelle still care about each other, their main focus is being a good parent to Henry.

Hunt added, “As for Roy and Keeley, I have known coupleswho seemed perfect together, and then suddenly find they broke up. People who haven’t (at least started to) work on their shit can sometimes find that they lose something they wish they’d kept.”
