Sporting the same glowing eyes and laser vision as his arch-enemy Homelander, the image seems to suggest that, comeThe Boysthird series, Billy Butcher will have found a way to make battling the supes a lot more even.
Released viaThe Boysofficial Twitter account, this latest poster puts the focus on the leader of the gang, Billy Butcher. Casting the character in stark black-and-white, Butcher’s golden, glowing eyes are just as ominous-looking as those of evil “superhero” Homelander, and hint at the direction of Prime Video’s upcoming third season. No doubt a hugely dramatic, super-powered battle between Butcher and Homelander is on its way…

Will Billy Butcher Use Compound V in The Boys Season 3?
The Boysis based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, and takes place in a universe where super-powered individuals are recognized as heroes by the public and owned by the powerful corporation Vought International, which markets and monetizes them. Outside their heroic personas, most are arrogant and corrupt. The series primarily focuses on two groups: The Seven, Vought International’s premier superhero team, and the titular Boys, vigilantes looking to keep the corrupted heroes under control.
The adaptation ofThe Boyshas made some adjustments to the source material, most notably the changes made to Compound V. While the super-power-giving serum has been introduced in the series, there are several differences between the live-action depiction and the inked images of the comics. In the comics, Billy Butcher and the rest of The Boys use Compound V frequently to fight the likes of The Seven and the other supes. This element has so far been left out of the series, but based on Butcher’s glowing eyes, it looks like things are about to change. Which can only spell bad news for Homelander and the rest of his ilk.

The second season wrapped up in October last year, concluding with The Boys splitting up, Hughie taking a position among Congresswoman Victoria Neuman’s staff (not knowing that she is the supe who has been blowing people’s heads up throughout season 2). Meanwhile, Butcher is struggling to get over the death of his wife, Becca; Homelander has found his power undercut, and Homelander and Becca’s super-powered son Ryan has now been taken in by the CIA.
The Boysseason 3 is scheduled to be released on Prime Video on July 13, 2025. The first two seasons ofThe Boyshave been met with critical acclaim, with season 3 promising to continue the violent, unorthodox comic book madness.
