While superhero fans impatiently await the arrival ofBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicenext spring, Warner Bros. is trying to get the other previously-announced movies in theirDC Cinematic Universeready for production.Suicide Squadstarts shooting next month, followed byWonder WomanandJustice League Part 1, both set for 2017. The studio’s first 2018 movie isThe Flash, which hasEzra Millerset to star as the title character, although the project doesn’t have a writer or director attached at this time.

During today’sMeet the Movie Press, The Wrap’sJeff Sneiderrevealed that Warner Bros. is pursuingPhil LordandChris Millerto directThe Flash, although there is apparently a “tug of war” over the directors between Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures. Sony reportedly wants them to direct their secondGhostbustersmovie, which would serve as a companion toPaul Feig’s all-femaleGhostbustersreboot. Here’s whatJeff Sneiderhad to say below.

“We’ve heard a bit of a tug of war going on between Warner Bros. and Sony, which would like the same two directors for one of its big franchise movies. If Warner Bros. wanted them forThe Flash, and Sony wanted them for a Ghostbusters movie, which would Lord and Miller do?”

When we first reported about the secondGhostbustersmovie, which would reportedly starChanning Tatum, Sony was eyeingJoe RussoandAnthony Russoto direct. However, that won’t likely happen now, since they just signed on to direct the two-partAvengers: Infinity War Part 1andAvengers: Infinity War Part 2. Now it is believed that Sony wantsPhil LordandChris Millerto direct theGhostbustersmovie.

Of course, this hasn’t been confirmed, andPhil LordandChris Milleralready have a very full plate at the moment. They are producing a reboot ofThe Greatest American Hero, along withThe Lego MoviespinoffsNinjago,The LEGO Batman MovieandThe Lego Movie Sequel. However, they haven’t announced which project they will direct next, so it’s possible that they could squeeze in eitherGhostbustersorThe Flash. Since the directors are best known for their comedies, Warner Bros. may be aiming for a lighter version ofThe Flash, but we don’t know for certain. What do you think about these updates?
