9The Colonial Marines - Aliens (1986)

Aliensintroduced us to the combat-ready Colonial Marines. Employed by the space-faring Weyland-Yutani Corporation, they find a Xenomorph infestation among their terraformed colony. They were trained by a corrupt organization that used them to profit off the protection of the alien creature for biological weapon research. Opportunist and jingoist philosophies, as well as PTSD, from the Vietnam War are present in the Marines as they fight a war no one asked for.

8The Robotech Defense Force - Robotech: The Movie (1986)

Robotech: The Moviefollows the Robotech Wars, which began in 1999 when the alien spacecraft SDF-1 crash-landed on Earth. The militaristic alien race Zentradi sought after the ship, but lost to humankind. The Zentradi returned in 2027 learning that the motherboard of SDF-1 still exists. Earth’s Robotech Research Center in Japan, also known as the Robotech Defense Force or the Army of the Southern Cross, has studied and protected the computer from falling into enemy hands. To prevent an invasion on Earth, Alex must become a Starfighter and train under the guidance of reptilian pilot Grig (Dan O’Herlihy).

With the Earth’s natural resources gone, the RDA mine the convenient plot device of unobtainium on the moon of Pandora, home of the alien race Na’vi. 3Autobots and Decepticons - Transformers: The Movie (1986)

Transformers: The Moviefollows warring, shape-shifting, giant robots: the Autobots and the Decepticons. The Autobots and their leader Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) have their home planet Cybertron conquered by the evil Decepticons and their tyrant Megatron (Frank Welker). To launch a counter-attack, the Autobots seek supplies on Earth, but are quickly flanked by the Decepticons. In the ongoing conflict, the robots transform into various battle-ready forms, powered by sparks, but the Matrix of Leadership of the Autobots jeopardizes the tyrannical technocracy of the Decepticons.

InStar Trek: First Contact, the USSEnterprisetravels back in time to prevent the cybernetic organisms known as Borg from controlling the Earth. Starfleet vessels are engaged in combat with a Borg Cube ship. The Borg assimilates humanity and other species by reverse engineering their technology as their own and using it against them by turning them into submissive drones.

Star Warshas the most well-known intergalactic armies, the Rebels of the Rebel Alliance and the Stormtroopers of the Galactic Empire. The civil war in space shows the Empire with the upper hand with its Death Star, a planet-destroying space station. However, the Rebels stole the plans for the Death Star, which reveal a weakness in the super-weapon. The Rebels are scrupulous, crafty, and have grit against the armored, cloned obedience and firepower of the Stormtroopers. Both space militaries share a timeless feud and resolve to decide what becomes of the galaxy.
