Home of themodern murder mysteryKnives Out, which arguably brought the genre back to the mainstream, Netflix is expanding its mystery portfolio with the upcoming miniseries based on the novelThe Residence: Inside the Private World of the White Houseby Kate Andersen Brower. The comedic mystery thriller is produced byTV dynamo Rhimes,who has made more hit shows than one person can count. The miniseries' trailer lays out the situation simply: Giancarlo Esposito’s character is found dead at a high society White House event, so the guests and the staff are all questioned by Aduba’s detective character.

The staggering numbers of 132 rooms and 157 suspects makes the miniseries sound like an extreme version of Clue, which is more than exciting for a murder mystery fan. In the long wait for the final season of most viewers' favorite Netflix show,Stranger Things, the streaming platform has actually taken steps to diversify their original content in a meaningful way, and their work is really paying off. Not only wasSquid Game 2a major success, but Netflix has also announced thatSquid Game 3is coming not too far in the future, with a release date of July 27.
