The nursery rhymeThree Blind Micejoins the growing list ofhorror retellings of popular children’s tales. The upcoming creature feature of the same name arrives just in time for Halloween, landing on Digital and DVD on October 17, and the film’s first brutal and bloody trailer has just dropped. The trailer forThree Blind Mice, which you may watch below, features a group of human-sized rodents– and dozens of little ones, too– tormenting a family visiting a cabin in the woods.
“Abi is going cold turkey; her family has taken her to a cabin in the woods so she can be away from the city and all her troubles," reads the official synopsis. “However, little do they know, The Three Blind Mice is more than just a fairy tale, and they may be next up on the menu.”
The film is being released by Uncork’d Entertainment, the distributor that is behind a number of other horror features including the upcomingMary Had a Little Lamb.In a statement (viaBloody Disgusting), Keith Leopard, President of Uncork’d Entertainment said:
“Releasing shortly after our other nursery rhyme-turned horror filmMary Had a Little Lamb,Three Blind Miceguarantees horror fans some bloody, disturbing and very entertaining pre-Halloween entertainment. Pierre B, and his talented cast, liver a title that’s bound to be extremely popular.”
Three Blind Miceis written by David Malcolm and directed by Pierre B. The film stars May Kelly, Lila Lasso, Natasha Tosini, Samantha Cull, and Danielle Ronald. You can see how they run… see how they kill… beginning October 17.

More “Dark Retellings” of Children’s Classics Are Coming
Three ofThree Blind Mice’s stars (Kelly, Tosini and Ronald) previously appeared in Rhys Frake-Waterfield’sWinnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, a recent horror undertaking of a childhood classic. While the film was bashed by critics and holds just a 3% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Pooh and Piglet will live to see another day. The film’s upcoming sequel will boast a bigger budget, and, as we now know,will feature chainsaw wielding Pooh.
Frake-Waterfield doesn’t plan on stopping with Pooh, either. The writer and director wants to loop in numerous characters from children’s tales into a “twisted alternative” cinematic universe:
“The idea is that we’re going to try and imagine they’re all in the same world, so we can have crossovers. People have been messaging saying they really want to see Bambi versus Pooh,” he said.
Peter Pan will soon join Frake-Waterfield’s cinematic universe withPeter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare.The movie, directed by Scott Jeffrey and co-written by Frake-Waterfield and J.M. Barrie, is currently in pre-production stages.
Tosiniwill also appear in ITN’sCinderella’s Curse, set for release this October. According to the film’s director, Louis Warren, the “dark retelling” of the folk tale offers a “unique spin on the Cinderella we all love and know.” If the idea of a blood hungry Cinderella is appealing to you, you happen to be in luck.
A second horror-based Cinderella film,Cinderella’s Revenge,will see the protagonist slip out her glass slippers and use the assistance of her Fairy Godmother to seek vengeance against her evil stepsisters and stepmother.Cinderella’s Revengeis directed by Andy Edwards and stars Lauren Staerck as the titular character and Natasha Henstridge and the Fairy Godmother.
