The crime drama, which takes inspiration from the photo book of the same name by Danny Lyon, eventually hit theaters that December, but sadly failed to rev up much interestat the box office. By the end of its run,The Bikeridershad only garnered $36 million worldwide against its $40 million budget.

The crime drama now stands at a “certified fresh” rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes alongside 75% on the Popcornmeter, with critics praising the cast. “Fueled by a charismatic cast and the gritty authenticity of writer-director Jeff Nichols' approach,The Bikeridersoffers a conventional yet impactful look at motorcycle culture,” the critics’ consensus reads.

Intense First Look At Tom Hardy’s Netflix Action Movie Finally Revealed
Director Gareth Evans hypes Tom Hardy’s “intensely muscular central performance.”
At the time,MovieWeb’s own Patrick Hayesheaped praise on both Tom Hardy and Austin Butler, saying of the former, “The Vandals are the birth-child of head-honcho, Johnny, portrayed exceptionally by the ever-squinting, rough-and-ready heartthrob, Tom Hardy.” As for the latter, he applauded “the forever-smoldering Austin Butler, who has ostensibly never come off the Elvis-induced cloud he floated away on under Baz Luhrmann,” adding that his character, Benny, is “coolness personified,” and an irresistible anti-hero “whose nomadic existence makes him thoroughly unpredictable.”
