Spider-Man: No Way Homestar Tom Holland continues to fuel speculation that the upcoming sequel could be his final MCU adventure, with the actor stating that it might be “time to move on,” and even suggesting a replacement for Peter Parker: Into the Spider-Verses Miles Morales. While he does not state it outright, Holland’s most recent comments certainly sound like he is ready to leave Peter Parker and hand theSpider-Manmantle to someone else…
“Maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what’s best forSpider-Manis that they do a Miles Morales film. I have to takePeter Parkerinto account as well, because he is an important part of my life…[but] If I’m playingSpider-Manafter I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.”
Based on the epic scope ofNo Way Home, something which has been further teased by the latest trailer, many Marvel fans have wondered if Holland could soon be stepping away from theSpider-Manrole after going out on what’s sure to be the highest of highs. This is not the first time that Holland’s insight intoSpider-Man: No Way Homehave suggested the end of his tenure, with the MCU mainstay saying, “We were all treating [No Way Home] as the end of a franchise, let’s say,” while director Jon Watts has called the movieSpider-Man: Endgame. Add to that Tom Holland’s endorsement of aSpider-Manmovie led by Miles Morales, whose existence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has already been teased, it could well be that Peter Parker’s time in the MCU is indeed coming to an end.
Before all that though, audiences still have yet to experience the exciting-looking outing that isSpider-Man: No Way Home, a project so rife with rumors that it could result in either the most crowd-pleasing installment, or the most potentially disappointing.Spider-Man: No Way Homepicks up following the outing of Peter Parker’s identity asSpider-Manby Mysterio at the end of 2019’sSpider-Man: Far From Home. His life and reputation are now turned upside down, and Parker decides to ask Dr. Stephen Strange to help restore his secret identity with magic. Of course, thanks to Parker’s affinity for chatter, the spell quickly goes awry, breaking open the multiverse and allowing supervillains from alternate realities who have previously fought aSpider-Manto arrive.
Thanks to the recent trailers, we now know that several of the hottest rumors have turned out to be true, with Spider-Man: No Way Home set to resurrect the likes of Alred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors AKA The Lizard, and Thomas Haden Church as The Sandman. And while we haven’t actually seen them yet, there are several clues suggesting the arrival of both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their respective iterations of the iconic web-slinger.
As forMiles Morales, the beloved character will return in animated form in upcoming sequelSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2(which is rumored to be titledSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse) and is due for release on June 23, 2025.
Spider-Man: No Way Homemeanwhile is scheduled to swing into theaters on August 02, 2025, as part of Phase Four of theMCU. This comes to us fromGQ.
