Last week, filmmakerDavid Lynchconfirmed that hisTwin Peaks revivalis back on at Showtime, teasing that fans will be getting much more than the initially-confirmed nine-episode order. During an appearance at Seattle Crypticon, original series starsSherilyn Fenn(Audrey Horne) andSheryl Lee(Laura Palmer/Maddy Ferguson) confirmed that the new season will be 18 episodes long. Here’s whatSherilyn Fennhad to say about whyDavid Lynchalmost left the series, and why it is now 18 episodes long.
“I’m so happy we’re back on…and 18 episodes now, even. I’m pretty sure that’s what happened with the hiccup was that David said that he sawTwin Peaks, but the universe and the strings go all over the place in the world, it’s not justTwin Peaks. I think when he did the nine, he realized he needed nine more to complete it.”
Sherilyn Fennalso confirmed that they plan on using the original locations fromTwin Peaks, including the Double R diner.
“We’re shooting there. 100%…[David’s] already come here. They’re re-doing the RR diner to look exactly like it did in the show, and then the owners of the diner are going to keep it that way.”
The actress also revealed thatAngelo Badalamenti, who composed the music for the original series, will be back for the Showtime revival. Here’s what she had to say about the importance of music in the series.
“Those are pivotal, important, essential parts of it.”
