The CW confirmed last month that the title character from CW Seed’s animated web seriesVixenwill transition into live action, appearing on an upcomingSeason 4episode ofArrow. ActressMegalyn Echikunwoke, who voices Mari McCabe/Vixen on theweb serieswill reprise her role in live action in this season’s 15th episode,Taken, which doesn’t have a premiere date confirmed yet. Today,DC Comicsrevealed the first official look atMegalyn Echikunwokein the flesh as Vixen.
TheVixencharacter was created by Gerry Conway andBob Oksnerin 1981, first appearing in Action Comics #521 complete with her animal mimicking abilities. The character has gone on to be a member of theSuicide Squad,Birds of Preyand theJustice League of America. No details were given about how she appears in this episode, but it will follow the continuity of the web series.

In theVixenweb series, Mari McCabe is a street smart model who inherits a mysterious family heirloom that grants her the powers of the animal kingdom. Mari first met Green Arrow and the Flash during the debut season of her series, but fans won’t have to wait until the second season of Vixen debuts to see her reunite with at least one half of that superheroic duo. It isn’t known if there are plans to bring her back later on inSeason 4, or if she will also cross over toThe Flash.
The CW announced at their TCA winter tour panel thatVixenwill be renewed for a second season, although it isn’t known when the second season may debut. Network president Mark Pedowitz revealed the character may also get her own live action spinoff series, or transition over to the upcoming showDC’s Legends of Tomorrow. That may all depend on how fans react to her appearance in this forthcomingArrowepisode.
