The filmmaker has also stated that he believes there are several more stories that can be told aboutAndy Serkis' Caesar character in this timeline, before the events of the original classic Planet of the Apes. It isn’t known if 20th Century Fox has plans for any future sequels beyondPlanet of the Apes 3, but it wouldn’t be surprising, given how popular the franchise has become. 2011’sRise of the Planet of the Apestook in $481 million worldwide at thebox officefrom a $93 million production budget, with last year’s sequelDawn of the Planet of the Apesearning $708 million from a $170 million budget.
