Warner Bros. is reportedly considering delaying the highly anticipatedBeetlejuice 2and other movies expected to release in 2024.
As the SAG-AFTRA strike continues passed the 100-day mark, studios now need to decide whether they plan to reschedule the release dates for some of their 2024 films. Notably, Paramount recently announced that it planned to delaythe nextMission: Impossiblemoviefrom its planned release date of June 24, 2025 by almost a year to July 20, 2025. With that in mind, it comes as no surprise that Warner Bros. might follow suit.
A new report fromVarietystates that Warner Bros. is continuing to consider its options regarding delays on films includingBeetlejuice 2and Robert De Niro’sWise Guys.Though it’s unclear what revised release dates these movies could get,Beetlejuice 2could potentially get pushed back to Halloween 2025 considering the original film’s spooky season popularity. B. Riley senior media analyst Eric Wold told the outlet:
“There will be a number of 2024 titles that move into 2025 and beyond because of production delays. Studios are holding back and not talking about it to avoid showing their weak hand during negotiations. But people are waiting for it.”

Beetlejuice 2will be directed byTim Burtonand stars Jenna Ortega, Michael Keaton, Monica Bellucci, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux, and Willem Dafoe. At this time, not much is known about the storyline of the comedy-horror follow-up to Burton’s popular 1988 film,Beetlejuice.
Though the filmmaker hasmanaged to keep the plot ofBeetlejuice 2under wraps, Burton has also previously noted that there’s no easy way to explain the storyline for the upcoming movie.
While chatting withThe Independentabout his experiences working in Hollywood, theMiss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Childrendirector shared his thoughts on the long awaitedBeetlejuicesequel. Burton told the outlet:
“Honestly, I don’t really know, because I am really not that good at talking or speaking or trying to sell something, so to speak. Looking back, it’s a very, very strange journey that I can’t quite explain. That’s why it is hard for me to watch the movies afterwards, because I still feel the emotional whatever of it. I don’t get a release from that. But I do enjoy all the people I’ve worked with. On this last one,Beetlejuice 2, I really enjoyed it. I tried to strip everything and go back to the basics of working with good people and actors and puppets. It was kind of like going back to why I liked making movies.”
During that same interview, theEdward Scissorhandsdirector also revealed that the movie was “99 percent done” when the actor’s strike forced production of the film to stop. Burton said, “I feel grateful we got what we got. Literally, it was a day and a half. We know what we have to do. It is 99 per cent done.”
As of right now,Beetlejuice 2is scheduled to release on July 21, 2025, whileBeetlejuiceis currently available to stream on Hulu.
